Well, you've made the first step by putting it out there. I have found this board to have (in my biased opinion) is a great group of women with a lot of knowledge, wisdom, and encouragement.
When I started my journey, one thing that made a HUGE difference for me was water. I drink almost nothing but water now. Sometimes I'll have a cup or two of coffee in the morning, but then it's water all day long.
Also, I started with a small exercise goal. 15 min x day, 3 days a week and worked it up from there.
I do OK, but occasionally fall off plan for a few days, but the key is to listen to the inner voice when it says "enough". I'm actually there right now, needing to get back on track so let's do it!
I couple of weeks ago, I started a thread called "Tips for the newcomers" - if you haven't looked at that, scroll down and check out those ideas - it's a great place to start.
It's going to be difficult at first - especially with a back problem that restricts your activity level.
Welcome Mandy!
