hm mashed potatoes... that's yet another thing I've been wanting but thankfully on it, I was smart enough not to try (like thinking I could actually cut apples for an apple crumble )

LOL
I guess it's the food snob in me; I totally agree with my sister that those instant mashed potatoes just aren't as good as homemade.

Don't know when but I'll do you at least one better, Joelle. We've got a sprouting potato on the counter and I had a strange brain spasm the other day about how to grow it. My father used to grow potatoes in straw so they could be pulled up instead of dug and scarred by a shovel. I'm thinking of using pine needles and tree leaves since they're free (much cheaper than straw) and can go right into the compost pile if we get potatoes or not.

If the plants grow and flower and the flowers fade while the plant still has leaves, we may have potatoes. Maybe I'll concoct a recipe to name after you. Should it be mashed or a salad - maybe German style? Hmm - German inspired mashed potatoes? FM would love that!

Gotta get ready for the Greek restaurant now. FM's finally taking me for my birthday dinner. (His shoulders hurt too bad for him to deal with a fork last Thursday.)

Promise I'll be back in time for chat. The days of starting to log on at 6:30 for a 9:00 chat are over!!!
