Yeah, it's for sale. The Washington Post seems to be tired of losing money on it.
Well, newspapers aren't great profit centers these days either. My local paper, owned by the New York Times, has not only gotten thinner, as opposed to thick, but has gotten thinner as opposed to wide. It's not cheap to change the physical dimensions of any publication. They must be in the long haul for shrunken papers.
Two losses seem to account for the current state of magazines and newspapers - loss of paying readership and loss of paying advertisers. The people trying to sell me a subscription to the local paper from a stool outside a discount store had better not be working on straight commission.
