OK - I'm ready. I'm 44 - have an 8 year old daughter - my H and I are in the process of repairing our marriage after finding out he had an affair. (I also post on the Betrayed Spouse Board!) I am 5'2" and last time I was on the scale I was up around 180. My H swears my weight gain has nothing to do with his straying and even though I believe him - it's time for me to feel better about myself. I used to be in great shape before my daughter. (I know - I know - eight years is a long time to blame baby weight!!!) I was an avid cyclist - riding 250 miles a week. Now I'm lucky if I get in 20 miles.

Yesterday I had the first migraine I have had in about 10 years. Really bad - but because I basically vomitted for 20 hours - I figure my system is nice and clean and ready for a new eating plan!

I would love encouragement. I used to do tons of fad diets and don't want to do that again. I want to find the right balance of exercise and food for the rest of my life. I check my email many times a day and if I came here, I'd be reminding myself to be healthy and eat right.

I look forward to meeting you all!

Hi and welcome to the board.Speaking as the mom of an 18 yr old I don't think 8 yrs is too long to blame baby weight!LOL You've come to the right place for encouragement.Look forward to you posting with us.

Hi, Dee - Welcome to Fit over Forty. No baby weight to blame here - I just love to eat and have only recently made fitness a habit (ok, 3 days off for a holiday means the habit isn't totally ingrained, but I'm human).

You'll learn a lot and have a lot of fun here in the process. Hope to see you post often.

You have been through quite a bit lately! So sorry you've been sick & I hope you will not get another migraine again!

Welcome to Fit Over 40 and I hope to see more of your posts. I hope you work things out satisfactorily for you and your daughter. I am 43 and have a 13 yo ds & can almost relate to what you are going through, although I'm a single mom now.

If you need a friend, I'm here - email is: katsonnet@aol.com

Ahem...3 days off for a holiday weekend is not a big deal! All work and no play makes Donna a dull girl. You have to let your hair down once in a while or you'll go crazy, girlie!

Don't kick yourself too hard.
