Good morning Workout Divas!

How's the week starting off after a 3 day weekend? I was glad to get back to work myself. I'm taking a client hiking/trail running this morning. We'll go about 3.5 to 5 miles. I'm pushing for the 5. Later on in the day I need to get in and do a weight training workout. Hiking is great for your legs but I just don't have that nice pump like I did when I was training all the time. Don't you think weight training makes a huge difference?

So, what's your workout today?

What had a positive influence on your life since last week?

What ONE woman is your current role model?

What ONE thing do you want to brag about for the week?

Psalm 117

Let All Peoples Praise the LORD

1 Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles!

Laud Him, all you peoples!

2For His merciful kindness is great toward us,

And the truth of the LORD endures forever.

Praise the LORD!

Live with Passion!

Good morning everyone!!I had the most awesome day yesterday!!I got so much accomplished and had the perfect balance btw work and fun.I didn't get to my workout until 8pm and then I got out for a run.Today for my workout I'm doing a walk and then weights.I have really slacked off in the weights dept. so need to get back at it.

Something that had a positive influence in my life is an arguement with DS.Very upsetting at the time but decided to use it in a positive way.Looking at what I need to work on in terms of my actions.

Hmm, no one woman that I can think of.Always inspired by woman with energy to make things happen.

Want to brag that I covered all my bases this week.Want to be able to say I got my work done, met my goals, had fun and hopefullly helped some people along the way.

Have a good one!!!

So, what's your workout today? Haven't decided yet. Debating about walking in my CardioStrides or trying some actual exercises using care for my neck/back area.

What had a positive influence on your life since last week? The return of sunshine and Tim's successful business trip to CA.

What ONE woman is your current role model? Kathleen Deoul -- a woman who was extremely ill and came back to health to be extremely successful in her latest business.

She is definitely a super achiever.

What ONE thing do you want to brag about for the week? That my son made the jazz band at Mandarin High School. He auditions this evening. Please say a little prayer for him.

So, what's your workout today?

+++60 minutes "Slow burn" walk/run in MAP AND 15-20 minutes lower-body weights.

15 min. warm-up

30 min walk/run

15 min. cool-down

+++Increase my water to 7 cups today.

What had a positive influence on your life since last week?

+++My Dad has had a very positive influence on me this past week. Even though his health is failing his sense of humor is still very much in tact.

What ONE woman is your current role model?

+++Thats a toss-up between Kay Arthur and my Mom. Kay Arthur, because she is such a strong Christian woman and she has so much to share about it. My Mom because she's focused on living one day at a time ... and she's doing such a great job of it!

What ONE thing do you want to brag about for the week?

+++Hmmm .... don't know that I have anything to brag about yet for this week. That means I'll have to get out there and make it happen!!! LOL

Hey Phyllis...going out with Terri again???

So far my week hasn't been all that spectacular. Got off to a rocky start with my workout...didn't have one yesterday...but today will be better. Headed down to the south center for a Jazz class. The floor there is so much nicer than the north center even if it is miles out of my way. I don't care, my legs are starting to give me fits with the shin splints and this weird ankle pain that comes and goes. I think it's the hard floor at the north Jazz center. And yes, I think weight training makes a huge difference. I've found some muscle definition that I thought was gone long ago. I love it!

I can't think of a positive influence right now. I'm sure I'll come up with 10 when I log off.

I guess I'd have to say my Mom is my current role model. She's strong and resilient. I love that.

My boast? Well, in spite of the tremendous urge to do so, I fought the desire to pop my boss in the mouth yesterday morning. It required a strength of will I didn't know I had. Yes, he's driving me nutzo again and no vacation in sight for either of us. Give me strength. I'm not a violent person, I'm really not. There is just something about the way he conducts a meeting that makes me crazy...like fingernails on a chalkboard...and I just want to make it stop! Maybe if he learned to speak in complete sentences that make sense...I dunno. Yes, I feel better now.

Have a great day.

I'm getting ready to go do my running - DD is in cheerleading camp for the morning. I'll do my abs work again, too. I ended up not exercising yesterday, and after a 2-day rest, looking forward to it.

Positive influence - probably my husband having a 3-day weekend. That just made me feel happy and carefree inside!

Current role model... have to say none. Right now I'm living my life as it works for me.

Brag - my redecorated half-bath! I've already bragged about it though in a post I made yesterday!

1) What's your workout today?

Treadmill and bike tonight - I'm going to stick to 30 minutes of hard work and stop - and lots of cool-down stretching.

2) What had a positive influence on your life since last week?

I'll pass on this. Last week was not stellar, and my attitude was definitely not positive.

3) What ONE woman is your current role model?

Tie - My mom and sister.

4) What ONE thing do you want to brag about for the week?

It's early yet - I'm sure something worth bragging about will happen.

The hike and trail run sound fun. Just remember you may not feel that pump but you're challenging your body in a totally different way and that's a good thing to see change. I've decided that every few months I'm going to sign up for some training sessions, just to shake things up. It's good for me!

Today I have an hour of weight training with at the personal trng studio, I'll have my running shoes on so I can get my cardio around the harbor after. No Jazzercise today, I have an evening mtg in Tacoma for the Heart Ball.

Positive Influence in your life?? I guess Eric--the way he diffused our situation this weekend. It wasn't pretty.

I absolutely do not have a current female role model! Is that a bad thing? I have a female body role model---Venus Williams.

My brag--there are 3 pints of ice cream STILL in the freezer :o). Other than that, nothing.

Today's workout,....cardio and stretching.

Positive influence since last week...I'm reading a book by Barbara Sher called "It's Only Too Late If You Don't Start Now", about finding out what you really want to do with your life after you hit 40~ I've also made a friend who is a life coach and she took me under her wing and is helping me to figure out what direction I want to take career-wise.

Woman role model...can't think of any one person at the moment.

Brag for the week....I wore my new size 12 Eddie Bauer shorts to Folkfest and they weren't even uncomfortably snug. And I wore my tankini to the beach on Sunday. Haven't worn a bathing suit to the beach in a long time!

Have a great one ladies. I'm off to do some more housework!

Nope, not Tari...different client. Although...her time is coming up soon (she says with an evil laugh). Hey...I found a new way down Waldo. While we were running, I turned around to say something, tripped over a rock and went flying into the bushes and started sliding down the mountain. What a rush. I felt just like in the movies...lol. I pulled myself back up on the trail by a small bush. I really tore up my leg too. But, I had to save face in front of my client and continue to run down the mountain. Now...where is that motrin???

I posted something to Deb's post about the shin splints. Hard floors are tough on your legs. Your shoes should still be OK for Jazzercise after only 3 months if that's the only time you wear them. You might try getting some better insoles to put inside your shoes before you give up on them. I don't remember any jumping in Jazzercise when I took it but if you do have jumping...DON'T DO IT!

Hope the shins start feeling better.

Way to go fitness expert! That must have been a bumpy ride for you and there are some rather spooky and treacherous areas there...at least to me they were. Hope your leg is ok.

As for the shoes, they still feel fine when I walk around in them. I didn't think they were worn out yet. We don't really jump so much as kind of hop or skip. I usually don't do much of that or at least I'm picky about which moves I do. Anything that has me landing straight down on one foot or the other is definitely out even on the soft floor. I can't keep it up anyway, I'm too heavy or my joints are too weak or something. The better insoles are definitely on the shopping list. I might have to go to the doctor and see about getting some orthotics. My instructor recommended that and I think my insurance might even pay for it.

Thanks for the information. Funny how it's not either the muscle or the bone. I've always felt like the pain was deeper than the muscle. Anyway, the Advil helps and I promise to be more careful. I don't want to have to give it up entirely...it might just ruin my exercise streak! And I'd have to find something else I love as much. Not sure what that would be out here in the flatland boonies.

I have the pics from our hike at Waldo at my desk. Several people have stopped by to admire my stylin' outfit and tell me I'm insane when they see the trail we hiked on. I just smile...

Thanks again...

Wow, I'm wordy today, huh?
