I have an appointment to get some moles removed and there is one on my back that is pretty bad, I guess. I have been having sharp pain in that area for a couple of days, now. Also, lately I don't keep food down very well. I'll let you know what happens after the lab tests come back.

Thanks & hugs,

Kat

I will sure add you to my prayers, Kat. If it's any help, I had 3 large moles removed years ago, and they turned out to be nothing. It was more of a preventative measure, because I had one on each shoulder that sometimes got rubbed by straps, and one was right by my navel which got rubbed by waistbands and belts. They were fairly large and dark, but not irregularly shaped. I have a few "skin tags" I keep an eye on since we're out in the sun so much and had Rob examined by a dermatologist a few years ago. He has some moles and is very fair skinned.

Better to be safe than sorry. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs,

Rhonda

Thanks, Rhonda. My dermatologist removed about 5 moles on me back when I was in my 20's & also took a basal cell carcinoma off my nose (very painful getting 5 shots in my nose!) and everything turned out fine - moles were not cancerous. He just shaved them off & there was little pain involved. In my 30's, I had another basal cell carcinoma taken off my back but I had to have outpatient surgery performed & have a large scar left. The doctor was a surgeon & had a horrible bedside manner. I keep thinking Dr. Beck (my dermatologist) could have done a better job. Danny has a large mole on his leg and a couple of other small moles. After I get mine removed, I'm going to get his removed. He definitely wants them taken off. I have numerous moles, but thankfully, Danny didn't get that many. He has a fair complexion, but not as fair as I & his dad has a little Coushatta Indian in him so Danny tans alot faster than I. I try to make him wear sunblock nevertheless.

Thanks for the positive notes & for keeping me in your prayers.

I had a plastic surgeon do mine. He did surgery in his office with local anesthesia, so I could have watched if I'd wanted to. He did an oval incision to be able to sew up the skin together neatly and leave an almost invisible scar. He explained that a round incision would have made it very difficult. You'd have to really look to see them. I was surprised at how moles have sort of a root (gross!) on them. He was very nice and reassuring. A good bedside manner makes such a difference!!

Good luck!
