I was just curious as to what topics of conversation are discussed here.

As for myself, I just turned '40', and physically, I'm feeling somewhat distraught!

At '30' I was 5'9", 135 lbs., size 4-6.

At '40', I'm still 5'9", though 168 lbs, size 10.

I wish I could be one of these women that are comfortable with their bodies (at whatever size), and carry themselves as such. NOT ME! Why has '40' & being fit, become a contradiction for me!?!

Anyone else having the 40's blues?

Well missing, welcome to our board! Don't be sad about not being in your 30's anymore, rejoice with being in your 40's and think of all the positive things to come. Just think how much knowledge you have gained these last several years. Forty at first for me was depressing, but once I realized I am a stronger woman now then I was years ago made me realize how lucky I am. Unfortunatly I have sagged alot since I was in my 30's but my spirit and determination are stronger then before. I am only 4'11" and age 42, being smaller has been a problem but I refuse to let it get to me. I am struggling everyday with trying to improve my eatting, and my daily exercise. This place and these ladies have helped me so much. Stick around and you will be proud of 40! Welcome again!

Hi, Missing - What do we talk about here? How about what don't we talk about here? We talk fitness, working out, "power lounging", recipes, eating healthy, eating so very unhealthy, kids, DHs, ILs, work, house keeping, donuts, ice cream, chocolate. Not many topics are off limits.

Just dive in, don't be too shy, and don't take offense - there are strong ladies with strong opinions here, but we're all interested in each other's struggles and successes as we try to become healthier and fitter women.

Welcome Missing! Hope you post more with us and tell us about yourself. We discuss many different subject matters. Cabana boys are usually mentioned at least once a week. LOL!

I can honestly say I love being in my 40's! I am at peace with the physical "attributes" and really savor the "healthy feeling days" (which most are) more now that I am wiser and actually realize how good healthy can feel. Gone are the days when I agonized over my bad hair, features & cellulite (I accept these things, although I am working on or with them!). I have stress, but don't we all!

What kind of exercise do you enjoy?

Hi Kat.....thanks for that! Cabanna boys...does my 17-yr-old, Equadorian student count!?! Actually, I feel a bit guilty - he emailed a list of items he was bringing, amongst them, swimming speedos. Perhaps I should have told him that they're not very popular out here, then again, why hurt his feelings;)

As for exercise, I now walk instead of run and lift weights now and then. Though due to my constant, binge eating, I don't see good results from working-out (that said, I'm vigorously working on my eating habits!).

Thanks again,

Karen~

I was always slim as a child, youth and young adult. Even after bearing 6 children the weight always came off in less than a year. Something about 40 changes all that. I am 5'3" and 149 lbs. and hate every bit of it that's over 120 lbs. I could always look at clothes and know how they fit (no dressing room lines for me) but now I hate to shop and take clothes from people who have lost or gained weight as "goal clothes". I don't feel obsessed with it but I don't want to give up the fight and end up 150 lbs. overweight. I know no one intends for that to happen so the only solution is diligence against it. I definately understand where you are coming from.
