So thankful for my friends and pics !!

When it came to the night of the Zoobilee, my better auction half (Tammi), had to be in a wedding. After the months of preparation for the auction, Tammi couldn't attend, but she did have a great time being in her friend's wedding. Her friend's mother has been very sick in the hospital so they ended up keeping a cellphone at the alter so Mom could hear.

I feel so blessed to have had two of my other friends step in and be supervisors at the auction. They're both leaders in the community, and very strong decision making women--which was needed last night! It's been held at Zoobilee for several years, one of those things that you don't make changes to...since it seemed to go ok :o). But next year we're making changes. This was my very first time at the auction, we've just never made it into the aquarium, usually having too much fun at Zoobilee.

Anyway---LOTS of things could've have made it a much better auction. Duly noted and waiting in a doc file for a wrap up meeting for the event.

2100 attended, black tie, great food, perfect weather. We seemed to have made a lot of $$ and hope we surpass what was done at 2002. We shall know soon.

Here are the pics:

I'll have to remember not to wear the same color dress as theme for the event and backdrop for the formal pictures!! I look like I'm wearing one huge dress.

Happy to hear that things went so well financially. I bet you'll make it even better next year. Your dress really does look as though it's coordinated to the color scheme for the event -- very close. It's so pretty though. Love the pictures! Thanks for sharing.

I think it's just amazing how these events which you help coordinate and manage are orchestrated, Deb! Lady, you're GOOOOOOOOOOOD! You look very pretty in your blue dress, too.

Yes--the color scheme was a really pretty blue. My friend did such a great job with the event, she even had a mermaid perched way up at the top of the entry waving to all the people in line. People seem to arrive really early for this and stand in line (check out other dresses LOL) and sip champagne, so the entertainment outside the venue is always interesting! Last year they had the lady on stilts dressed up as a peacock, she's the same one I ended up hiring for the Heart Ball and she came in a long opera dress down the stilts and sang arias. Neat things you find.

I'm so curious on the financial end of this!

No, your dress is *beautiful*! I personally think you look like a mermaid coming up out of the water, and it's not your fault if they liked it so much that they chose a similar color for props ;^).

Thanks!! Tammi did most of the computer work (room design, making sure we had enough numbered tables for the items, where each of the 100+ packages go LOL..she's got a great thinky mind), I took off on our next project together so she could rest easy and do more on the Zoo. She and I work so WELL together as a team. She wants to do some more event planning and we're getting a lot of experience, she's almost 20 years younger than me so who knows what all this will bring. I'm totally satisfied raising money for community events.

Well if the mermaid has curvy body and hips I'm that gal LOL! I'm amazed at SO MANY women there wore gowns and they are SO skinny. I didn't get the envies though. I know our bodies are all so different and God wanted it that way. The friend in the pic with me was the one that wrote the article in the paper about weight training that I posted a while back. She's a very very disciplined eater (along with consistent fitness) for the most part and I realize that's my missing link :o). Deb

Deb - You and Eric look awesome and like you're having the time of your life. You look mighty fine in your backdrop/dress - the shades are different enough that you don't need to worry about looking like part of the landscape. Very pretty! Glad to hear the auction was a financial success, and hope you get to apply the lessons learned about organizing it next time around.

Very nice Deb. You are one busy lady! You look great and I agree, you do not look like the backdrop. Keep it up with your wonderful work.
