Today is the anniversary of our 2nd wedding--the wedding I call the "one that made Eric's Mom happy because he married a scandalous divorcee who then converted to Catholicism to please Eric's Mom."

Yes---they don't "divorce" in Eric's family--no kidding, I can't name one divorce. I can, however, name a lot of aunts/uncles and cousins that never ever got married! Enter Deb...perky and 32, married 12 years previously and separated when I met his family---to the picture.

My mom was ****mad*** that I was converting, his family was super happy, even more so that we were having a "real" wedding. We eloped the first time because it was such a dam* hassle trying to please everyone. AND I still felt super guilty about leaving hubby #1. Hubby #1 is a great guy and felt no guilt having a big fancy wedding to wife #2 LOL!

Anyway---as I struggle with hoping to fit well into my dress this weekend, Eric wants to go out to dinner to celebrate. I figured with three hours of fitness today that's ok. I won't piggy wiggy out. OR, I'll simply pick up sushi to celebrate.

So...we were married in the church August 5, 1995, and we eloped at home without anyone but best friends around us January 1, 1994.

So---did you have a big wedding????? When were you married? CURIOUS poll from

Happy Anniversary!! Mine were small, but I made up for it with my daughter! I never wanted a big wedding, just something very cozy and personal, but Erin wanted the whole fairytale thing.

Sharon--that's a great story! Esp keeping mum for a month. One of my fav tv shows is Christian one called 7th Heaven. The boy's dad was a minister, the girl's father was a rabbi, and they eloped. Never told anyone--then ended up having a wedding. Not sure I could keep mum.

CONGRATS on 27 years!!!!

Thanks for sharing!!! I'd have such a hard time not planning the big wedding of my daughter (if only I had one!). Was at the dry cleaners today and a woman was picking up a wedding dress, it was SO GORGEOUS. She seemed young and I asked if it was hers--she giggled and said no, it was for her daughters. I got a little sad :(. I guess I'll have to save all my wedding stuff and live through McKenna's in about 22 yrs poor kid.

I'm Devlish Deb :o)

I talk to Eric about your posts and we both can't wait to go back to Boston! I love the Italian section--when we visit we'll have to share a meal there with you and you can show us your church!

Thank you for sharing your story--you have no scandals in your past, must feel good! LOL..

As far as giving me away, we actually had all the guests sit down, then we entered with our families including the little ones, as a family. It made sense, and heck, my dad had already given me away to hubby #1 :o).

Happy 20 years of togetherness!

Tiny chapel? We tried to do that! Went to Vegas with my gf and her hubby. Unfortunately it was an "off" week for them and they argued BADLY the whole time. Took us out of the frame of mind to get married in a little chapel (and Elvis would've been fun too).
