Tired Margie Checking In...

Hi Everyone,
Gosh it's been a tiring past three days and I'm sooo tired but I just can't seem to unwind and doze off so I figured I'd catch up on the board posts. All that I can say is I have lived away from my family for 27 years and I never realized that by moving away at a very young age my DH and I have never had to deal with family issues unless we chose to. Yesterday was so difficult when one of Eds daughters and my sister had "words" of disagreement over seating arrangments at the memorial service. Then my nephew broke down at the viewing (his parents had pushed him to attend) saying he didn't want to be there to see his grandfather this way. I have a very close bond with my nephew and it really tugged at my heart to see him in so much pain. My Mom had held up fairly well until after the viewing last night when my sister made a statment my Mom took wrong and she just broke down, my sister got upset and I ended up staying up with my Mom until 1:30 am trying to help her relax. When I did go to bed my sister was very distraught and had a rough night. I think we got about 1 hour of sleep last night. Move forward to today when we arrived at the church my neither my neice or nephew were there. They waited as long as they could to start the service butthey had to start. My sister was tearing up because neither of her children were sitting with her (which she had argued about the day before) and my nephew was a pallbearer. My neice arrived 5 minutes into the ceremony and my nephew halfway through. My neice was held up with traffic and my nephew got lost and didn't know where he was. He ended up on his cell describing landmarks to a native cape-coder to help guide him to the church. The ceremony was beautiful but the tension on our pew was so thick you could have sliced it with a knife. On the way to the to the national cemetery several vehicles did not yield to the funeral prosession and there were screeching tires and honking horns behind us. I could only hope that Ed was up in heaven laughing at us. The conclusion of the service at the national cemetery was beautiful. It was a sunny 85 degrees with a beautiful breeze. I cemetery grounds are so nice with winding roads bordered with trees and rolling hills of green grass. I think it's a beautiful place for Ed's last resting place. Over 100 people came back to the house and shared the afternoon and early evening with us. They have all left and the house is quiet. Mom is finally sleeping for the first time since Sunday. I hope she is able to sleep all night long.

Tomorrow we have to get her paperwork in order so wish me luck that the tension in this house will have eased up.
Thinking of you all...wishing I could take time to see Donna while I'm in the area but just don't know if it would work out this trip.
Talk to you soon...Margie
