Everyone was so nice, it was a fabulous weekend, lots of parties and events (which I LOVE LOL), and absolutely no reason for me to be as nervous as I was.
Danced all night, talked so much that I was hoarse, and got tons of pics. Time spent alone with my older sis was as precious to me as the time spent with baby McKenna (probably have 20 pics of her hiccuping, smiling with gas, smiling, crying LOL).
Our friends hosted a party Friday night with all the neighborhood kids (now 40-50) and our parents, then my sister and I went to the first round of parties in Los Gatos. Different year classes took over different restaurants so it was fun to walk around the gorgeous little town and visit with everyone.
Saturday sis and I shopped and she went to the reunion informal pool party for most of the afternoon while I napped and leisurely got ready. I ended up bringing two dresses to choose from, and SO glad I did. The black stayed in the closet, the fushia was bright and fun to wear. They had a pre-party at the hotel lobby with my sister's class, about 50 or so, I got to play the role of little sis again :o). She was the class of 1974.
1400 ended up going to the gala, it was overwhelming at first to see so many people I knew, but I found a group of my elementary school girlfriends (we were bluebirds and camp fire girls) and we made the rounds. Then I danced for hours til my feet hurt. After that the party ended about 1230 and headed back to the hotel lobby. I was so tired and left at 2am, party still going strong!
My cousin with MS is not doing well so I ended up skipping the Sunday part of the reunion at the high school and our family went to visit her in Santa Cruz, she a few years older than me and was diagnosed with MS at 32. She had seizures last week and was in the fetal position when we visited, and the hospice folks (they're wonderful) said she may not appear to recognize anyone, but her eyes will. We talked to her (she can't talk anymore) and visited, and hugged, and I hope she could recognize it was us and know that we love her.
Was SO HAPPY to see Eric's face at the airport...I missed him so much. We're never apart this long and I'm just a big sensitive baby :o). Almost cried when I saw him.
That's about it!
Deb

So sad about your cousin. What a reminder of all we take for granted.
Bet Eric was every bit as happy to see you.

It sounds like you had a wonderful visit with your family and all your old friends. My reunion was nothing like yours - once DH and I figured out whick line to get in at the site (another school's reunion was the same night), it was easy - only 200 in my graduating class, all-girl school, and I knew everyone.
Sending prayers to your cousin for comfort.
Don't forget to post many pics of McKenna. We'll all get a smile out of our day because of her, I'm sure.

Welcome home!

Happy to hear your reunion was so fun. They can be incredible or a nightmare, so I'm glad yours was the former. The one we had from all the years a high school was open in MD I went to briefly a few years ago was absolutely awesome!! I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. Wish they'd have another. On the other hand, the one for the school I went to here and graduated from couldn't interest me less. We had almost 700 in my graduating class.
I am so sorry to hear how ill your cousin is. She will be on my prayer list too.
Yes, we'll definitely want to see pictures of McKenna. Love those babies! I took a nap and had the weirdest dream. Part of it was that we had a baby girl (who could walk the first time I held her), and her name was Apricot Nectar Murray!!! How weird is that???? Wonder if it was something I ate, although I haven't had any apricots in a while. I remember protesting the middle name, Nectar. ROFL!

So glad that you're back. Washington hasn't been the same without you.
Sorry to hear about your cousin. Yes, the people in hospice are amazing ... very special people.
Can't wait to see the pics.
Hugs,
Catherine.
