My Cousin Barbara

I hope this doesn't sound weird, but my cousin passed on last night and God answered my prayers. We were able to see her, visit her, I gave her "loves", kissed her, and all though she couldn't speak--I know she knew us. Her sister Carol has been such an incredible sister and cousin, daughter, everything. Barbara has been in the nursing facility for so many years, and Carol visited her every day (she's a very busy attorney). She is the one that arranged for everything.

I just know Barbara is now in a beautiful place and finally at peace.

Deb,

I think you expressed yourself perfectly. It's only natural for us to want the pain to stop for our loved ones when we know they have reached a point where they won't ever be whole again.

Now that it's been almost 2 weeks since my step father passed I've found myself also feeling a bit thankful or accepting for the way that it happened. I realize that with the fall he took he might have had severe brain injuries if he had survived the heart attack. They had plans to drive up to my sisters later that morning, I could have lost my Mom too if he had the attack behind the wheel or even injured or killed other people. Ed's son died of cancer 6 years ago at the age of 46. His death was slow and painful and Ed always said he could not bear to go through that. I'm thankful God granted his wish and took him quickly.

Deb, I'm so sorry for your loss but hope that Barbara's courage will leave a lasting impression on everyone she knew.

Margie :)
