You are where God wants you to be...

>My mother received this from a friend, and I thought it was worth sharing:

"You Are Where God Wants You To Be"

Next time your morning seems to be going wrong and the kids are slow getting dressed and you can't seem to find the car keys and you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or

frustrated; praise God instead, because God is at work watching over you.

After Sept. 11, I happened to call a man on business whom I didn't know and haven't nor will probably ever talk to again. But on this particular day, he felt like talking. He was the head of security for a company that had invited the remaining members of another company who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their office space.

With his voice full of awe he told me stories of why these people were alive and their counterparts no longer were. In the end, all the stories were just about little things that happen to us.

You might know, the head of the company got in late that day because his son started kindergarten. Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts. There were other stories that I hope and pray will someday be gathered and put in a book.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone... all the little things that annoy me...I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment. May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things.

Rhonda, I needed that this week.

The last few days were h*ll! I was all of a sudden overwhelmed with all the responsibilities in my corner of the universe, not to mention my need (or is it desire) to make my dreams materialize. My job is annoying (to put it mildly), but I need to remember God works it all out for me.

.. and that crying in the women's restroom is a good thing .. ! (smile)

Great post, Rhonda, and it applies to circumstances, also. I am a single mom because God wants me here at this place, at this time. I was never on my own until after my divorce, so it is a real learning experience. Even if I develop crushes on men who aren't for me and miss the companionship of a marriage, I know that this is a very important and meaningful time in my life. Every season in our lives should be commemorated is how I look at it. God knows best.

My friend Susan who is visiting this week (and leaving tomorrow) is a professional mediator. A colleague was involved in a volunteer program to help run groups for folks who had lost their jobs due to 9/11. He told Susan about a woman who was always late to the group. Finally people spoke up to her about it and she explained: on 9/11, she was late to work. That's why she's alive today. She *always* arrives late now. They were much more understanding after that.

I thought it was interesting hearing about that and then reading this.

I always think about things like that when I'm running late - like, what if - what if I had been on time and therefore the car that zoomed by didn't run me over, or that the guy who ran the red light didn't sideswipe me, or ... I tend to be much calmer about being late when I think about such things...

Many times I've marveled over coincidences or fate about things that happen due to being late or early or showing up the same time at the same place as someone else totally unplanned. I often think that God is looking out for me, and I'm really thankful.
