Lilie Doss spent many years taking care of others. She nursed her DH for years when he was dying of cancer. Before that her mother, her father and her mother in law. After losing her husband she decided to start running.

"I did it because I wanted to live,"said Doss."I had been waiting on so many people for so long I decided it was time to to focus on myself".She was 64 when she began to run. After placing 2nd in her age group she began racing every chance she could.Eventually she began traveling the country and world with her son who was also a runner. She ran her first marathon 9 months after losing a breast to cancer. After the age of 70 she completed 3 50-Ks.Lillie has won more than 500 medals and trophies. She is now 77 and still running.

My husband has a saying ... "It's never too late to have a happy childhood", and when I saw the title of this post I thought the message was going to be something along the same lines. And it is in a sort of a way. It's never too late to do anything.

This woman's story is such an inspiration. Thanks for the reminder, Patty!

Great story and certainly an inspiration and an excellent reminder that it's never too late and you're never too old!

Great, inspiring story! We have a woman here, a friend of my sister's, who's in her 70's and competes in triathlons! I've talked to her -- not an oz. of fat on her, and she is so vibrant. What amazing women!
