I decided to go to the grocery store before my workout this morning, so I wouldn't be totally starved at apt to buy anything with the ingredient "chocolate" in it. Actually, I'm more in the mood for salty crunchy v sweets--odd, huh? Got a couple of roasting chickens, tossed one in the freezer and I'm roasting the second with fresh herbs under the skin. YES--I roast a chickena bout once a week, I love it!
Class went well today, hip flexor is better, even did the "SHAGGY" routine which is heavy on the ole flexors! They worked, yippee.
I have a question for you--since we're all over the country (and world).
Has fall started where you are? I sense the days changing a bit, and the trees here are starting to get reddish at the tippy top. I love to see the changes, not ready for the rains yet--but fall is a lovely time of year.

Downloaded AOL 9.0. They have some neat new features and safeguards. Haven't been terribly productive other than that. Still need to take Rob to Barnes and Noble and get by Walmart.
Glad to hear your hip flexors are working fine.

I never notice grasshoppers here, but the squirrels are very active, but I have them on a regular "critter" feeding schedule :o). We can never move, the critters would starve.
Love oak trees, we don't have any of those where I am either. Lots of Western Hemlock and other green trees, though.
I did something different with my chicken, rubbed roasted garlic on the outer skin instead of some garlic oil...really made it burnt looking. Hurrumph :o)
My cousin is putting together a memorial video of her sister, my cousin Barbara. She wanted each of us to put a song we'd like on the video--I picked James Taylor's "Fire an Rain." For some reason that song always makes me weepy though.

Today was just beautiful. We went up to the gardens and they were beautiful. It's a little bit of paradise in the middle of the burbs. This northern part of Nassau County was once full of mansions and estates and was dubbed the "Gold Coast". This was one of the mansions that existed. The flier that they give you explains all about the gentleman and his family and how he developed the property. Before his death he gifted all the property over to NYS and it is now a historical site and park for NYS. There were paths to follow which led up to the main house along with the various pools on the grounds. There were also nature trails to follow and benches to sit on and just enjoy the beauty and serenity. It was so peaceful and oh so quiet! And a lot of walking! We went for a mid afternoon lunch at Ben's Kosher Deli where I was oh so bad with a huge hot corned beef sandwich, and DH and I shared some fries along with their homemade cole slaw and great deli pickles! I came home did some reading, and then took a little nap! I haven't cooked dinner in days and have had no kids around to eat anyway so even getting a vacation from cooking. Although I like to cook I haven't missed it the past few days! I figured out with the blackout and all I haven't cooked dinner since last Wednesday! I'm in a movie viewing mood so I'm thinking of renting Chicago? Has anyone rented that?
Well that's been my day, I hope yours has gone well!

I cheat and buy the already roasted chickens from our grocery store. They do a good job of it. This evening, I got the young surfer from Australia who works in the seafood dept. to steam some shrimp for us. He does a good job, and we talk about surfing. It takes him 5 minutes, there's no charge, and it doesn't stink up the house, so we do it about once a week now. Love shrimp!
Places within a couple miles of us got hard rain. Had to go through it to several stores, but didn't get a bit at our house.
I like James Taylor and always liked "Fire and Rain." It has sort of an eery quality about it. He was here this summer at an outdoor concert, but I didn't make it to that one.

A huge hot corned beef sandwich, now that's my dream date LOL...Eric knows that too...I love deli sandwiches and all the fixins. What a great day you had.
I want to see "Chicago", too. Let us know how much you liked it :o)

I love those roteserrie roasted chickens from the grocery store..yummmm. They steam the shrimp for you right in the store??? Great idea!
Yes---"Fire and Rain" is a bit eerie. It was played at my friend's funeral (motorcycle accident in his 20s) and it reminds me of my friend George every time I hear it.

Had a great day with my sister. We had the salad bar at Ruby Tuesday. One woman near us ordered a veggie burger, no mayo. Replaced her fries with a baked potato. Changed something else to broccli, steamed no butter. She ended up sending something back. I thought you probably should be that disciplined to make it work. But I couldn't do it. Another woman was having lunch with her husband. He had salad. She had ribs, fries, coleslaw and then ordered dessert.I loved that.
I absolutely love my Dr.He was torn between taking me off the preventitives or increasing it and giving it a bit longer. He decided on the latter for now.I told him I was feeling pudgy. I thought he would be dismissive of it.But he completely stopped what he was doing, checked my weight and talked to me.He said if at any point when we increased the doseage I felt pudgier then to call him and he would stop it.He really took me seriously.
All in all a great day for me. Now it's back to work tomorrow.

Yes, they steam the shrimp right behind the seafood counter, and this guy is good. I ask for extra Old Bay, and they're just the way I like them. I think it's great they don't charge for it.
I was flipping through some fashion magazines at Barnes and Noble today and thought of you. Oprah has some neat shoes in her magazine this month. I saw some in other magazines too. I can't get over how expensive shoes have gotten though, at least the ones usually shown in magazines. Back when I wore high heels, I can remember tearing the leather on the heels in concrete sidewalk joints, tile grout joints, and on the casters of my desk chair and being just mortified when they were under $100. I would be too afraid to wear ones that are $300. to $600., plus they're just so overpriced for what they are. I mean I love shoes as much as anyone, but that's just ridiculous unless you're really wealthy and want to blow some money.
I saw on "Inside Edition" tonight that some company is doing a knockoff of the world's most expensive purse, the Hermes "Kelly" bag in the world's cheapest material (the stuff called jelly), and it's really hot in Hollywood now. I love the shape, but it's still anywhere from $125. to $250. for "jelly!" Oh, well, I'll just stick with plain old leather, although I got a straw purse for summer this year for the first time, and it's been neat. I don't have to worry about messing it up at the beach.
