I see some posts are mentioning Fall. I love Fall but we've had such a short summer here I'm not in a big hurry for it this year.Though I did see some beautiful fall decorations in stores yesterday which got me alittle closer to being ready for it.
Ok, so what's up for everyone today?Anyone doing anything new and exciting?Anyone doing the same old same old and darn glad to be?Sometimes there is alot to be said for a routine in this crazy world of ours.
It's back to work for me today.New birdies arrive tomorrow. I barely had time to get lazy! Before I head out there I'm going to do a run here at home. And I'm going to make myself aware of my eating and do much better. It's suppose to be hot here today and I plan to
enjoy it while it lasts.
Have a super special day gang!!!!

Patty, how did you do yesterday at Dr. Neuro's? Was he able to do anything for your migraines?
Today is day 3 with DGD and I've gotta tell you she has some pretty interesting questions. Nothing with simple explanations, either. I'm getting an education.
Its pretty cloudy, muggy, and hot where I am. I'll see about getting out at lunch time to take a short walk, and again after work. Took my weight on DSs scales and its about the same as it was. Hope to lose some soon.
Have a great day everyone!
Catherine.
Actually, yesterday and today have found me right back to where I was before vacation...stressed, angry, ugly, eating poorly, reactive instead of proactive. Thankfully, the boss and DH are both out of town all of next week and I am determined to pull my act together. I must be in sad shape...DH suggested the other day that when my new compensation package comes through, why don't we hire someone to come in at least twice a month to clean. After picking myself up off the floor, I pretended to think about it for a few minutes (really only a nano-second) and said, "okay". And the Oscar goes to ME :)
This morning DD and I are off to her new school (she's moving into 7th grade this year) for a one hour orientation and an opportunity to pick up gym clothes. They have surely changed since I was in middle school! Long gone are the stretchy, one piece, zip up, itchy polyester uniforms (did I mention UGLY?). Now they wear tee shirts and basketball shorts with a draw string...girls and boys. I love that! Girls are supposed to wear sports bras. It's tough to see my little girl growing up. I can SOOOOO relate to Tweety...I've been getting emotional about it too...but I'm also relieved that school is starting up again. Will take some stress off me now that my job has picked up.
Anyway. I'm trying to catch up on the posts. Have missed you all and will get back into my regular workouts starting Saturday. Our eating, however, has been very healthy. So much so that the kids are continuing to complain about it!
My challenge to you all today is to recognize and act on an opportunity to make a stranger or non-family member feel special today...whether it is just smiling and saying hi to a stranger, helping someone load their groceries into their car, wait an extra 15 seconds for someone to catch up to the door you are going thru and hold it open for them, whatever. Look for the situation/opportunity and act on it. I've noticed that when I leave myself open to recognize this opportunities...they are always there. Makes me wonder how many I miss in the business, hussle of my day!
Love you guys.
Sassy.
Went to step class last night. A friend of mine from work came along and she signed up for Jazzercise too. So now I have someone to go with. Unless we hear something about the bike today, I'll be off to body sculpting class tonight. Haven't been for a couple weeks now and I'm due.
Patty: Good luck with the new chickies tomorrow. DH and I noticed something about baby chicks. Even if you've only got 5 or 6, it sounds like 50. How many do you get at once?
Sassy: Glad you're back!
Catherine: Have a great day. It's ugly and muggy outside here too.
Everyone have a goo day.

Another beautiful day here on LI. Not sure what's on the agenda today. DH is talking about going into NYC and going to the South Street seaport. I don't mind the trip in on the train but I really do detest the subway. I'm sure whatever we decide to do will involve walking-lots and lots of walking this week!
Hope you all enjoy your day!

Gotta do some grocery shopping - totally out of milk and other basics. I have no idea what to make for dinner. After all the pigging we've done, I could eat just cereal and fruit for the next three days!

I mentioned Fall Patty--we've had one terrific and odd summer here. Unusually sunny---and not much rain at all. That is not business as usual :o). So I'm ready for a little Fall action. The stores here have Halloween and Thanksgiving things on the shelves, yikes!
I'm doing something a little different today---three hours of classes with a different instructor. Each Jazzercise teacher gets the same routines, and should interpret them pretty much the same, but some are better with muscle work, remember the routines LOL, and some just have much better dance moves. The instructor today is a kick AND a physical therapist, so we learn a lot about our bodies and muscle function while we work out with her. She does things just a little different too. So she's teaching three hours of classes, wow! I'll take body sculpting from her, then Simply Jazzercise (BACK to back), then return tonight for regualar Jazzercise.
All of a sudden we're having an explosion of auction items come in...great trips. One to New Orleans, one to Monterey, one to Tahoe. So I'm going to work in on "fillers" for those trips....car rental, dinners, excursions. I was so STRESSED about not seeing things come in from the committee at large I was making myself sick...and now all this great stuff is coming in.

Workout tonight - don't know yet. I may stay late to catch up if all systems come back up and stay stable. Or I may go home at the regular hour and do cardio and LB.
One good thing about today - Boston is having its Restaurant Week and I went to lunch at Aujourd'hui, the 5-star restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel. Since August is such a painfully slow month for the tourist/restaurant business around here, it's a way for restaurants to attract new business and for foodies to go to restaurants that they might normally not go to primarily due to price considerations. About 30 restaurants in the city are participating - a prix-fixe 3-course lunch is $20.03, and dinner $30.03. Generally you have a choice of 5 or 6 each of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Some places choose to cut portion sizes, some don't - accoding to the woman I went with, who's been there before, Aujourd'hui did not.
Here's what I had: lobster and brandade cakes with corn and red pepper puree - yes, you could see and identify lobster; seared veal with braised root vegetables and fresh peas, and warm apricot tart with homemade pistachio ice cream. My lunch mate had the same appetizer and dessert, but her entree was broiled halibut with corn salad and something green I can't remember. The bread basket was awesome, also (a cherry walnut bread that would probably make a killer bread pudding was prominently featured). The only extra is drinks, and since I'm a lemonade drinker, the extra charge was minimal (and the lemonade was nice and fresh and tart). The restaurant is booked solid for the rest of the week at lunch and dinner; one other place in town is so happy with the turnout there that they've extended the specials into next week, and others may follow suit.
No dinner for me - DH gets bbq'd chicken with fresh mashies and peas. Not leftover, not store-prepared - cooked by me tonight.
Hope you're all having a great and PRODUCTIVE day, unlike me.
