Placed tenative "order" for our car...

Talked to the dealership in Charlotte - very good salesman - and he tried to locate what we wanted within the region. We found a car that had one or two extras beyond what we listed. It was in Baltimore, though, and we learned the expense of getting the car would've been passed to us, plus, someone would actually be driving it that 400 miles rather than being trucked in. We envisioned someone taking it through the Mixing Bowl around DC and then blasting down the highway at 80mph when we'd want to take it easy the first few hundred miles... and said, "Nah". So the salesperson is going to get the paperwork together to "order" a car from the factory. We should learn the bottom line sometime today. Then it's a 6-8 week wait, three weeks for the factory to finish out it's current run and a few weeks delivery. It's not critical, and we've waited this long, so we can wait just a little longer. Oh, I had the chance to drive a Forester with a stick yesterday (I'd only been able to drive an automatic before) - boy, do I love it! Lots of get-up-and-go, very responsive, and with the horsepower (165 compared to my little Sprout that has 116), it's much quieter at speed, revving at 2200 rpms or so.

I'm looking forward to it!
