Friday Night TV

Network TV on Friday nights is either really boring or too intense for me (I don't like watching crime or medical shows before I go to bed - that's why I had to give up ER). Since adding a cable hookup in our basement would be really extravagant, I've started watching the WB and I'm really enjoying "Reba" and "What I Like About You". They keep me company as I work out. Do any of you like these 2 shows?

Is this the same thing or something different? I loved the photos and was seriously considering getting it when I saw it at Borders.

Oh, that IS the show with Jennie Garth & Amanda Bynes, who was precious in "What a Girl Wants". If you like Colin Firth, you have to rent that one! Very cute!

Will have to catch this show on WB, thanks, Donna!

Friday nights... remember when I used to obscess over which bar or club to go to. Now I try to decide between the 48 hours investigates and a re-run of Law & Order. Man, do I feel old now!

Just for that, tomorrow night I'm going out for a beer.

"Trinny and Susannah, brutally honest fashion consultants and well known gropers, address the fashion choices women should make to deal with those pesky "problem areas". "What Not to Wear" actually started out as a BBC TV show, which took both sartorial embarrassment and ambush entertainment to new heights. Every week Trinny and Susannah secretly film some unsuspecting female fashion victim who was set up by their so-called friends, then proceed to brutally dissect their fashion choices while feeling them up in the name of emphasis. The victim's reward is several thousand pounds of cold cash to buy new clothes in accordance with Trinny and Susannah's sage advice. The book is sort of the same thing, only without the victims. The girls advise women how to cover up the above-mentioned "problem areas" - odd-sized bust, big limbs, small waist (since when is that a problem?), flabby bits, thick calves, and the ever problematic large bottom. An equally large audience for the book inevitable."

**********************************

This was the precursor to the American show. It is just amazing, though, to watch the transformation of some people. I like seeing the difference. They tell you 'the rules' for your body shape and then you have to shop while using the rules. It is incredible!

Booty, you wild thing you!!A big night for me now is when I finish up early in CL, get supper over with and can head to my loveseat. If I'm really lucky I get the remote and can watch whatever I want.Or I get a pile of magazines and curl up with those.

You're right Friday night has changed alot!!Did any of you cruise when you were teenagers?I used to borrow Moms car and go cruising up and down main street. Then a bunch of us would all find some spot, a ballgame or parking lot, to meet up in.

We cruised to the Frisch's Big Boy Drive-In to meet guys form other schools. There were other places too, but that was the big one. When I'd visit in the summer in MD it was in the parking lot of the bowling alley. Woo Hoo!

"which bar to go to"

Remember those days? When you had the energy to think about going out on a Friday night? Normally on Friday if I'm still awake at 8 it's a big night.

Have a beer for me, too - Sam Adams, Light. Then have another one....

Those were the days . . . out in CA, my roomies and I were busy every weekend & Fri. nights we made the rounds of UCLA, USC & our own college parties or go on beach or mountain campouts. We also had great little weekenders in San Diego, San Francisco, Big Bear, or Palm Springs. Things I dream about doing now . . . That's really the only thing I miss about my younger days - the travels & being with my friends. I blush concerning the alcohol consumed (not so much the amounts as to the varieties!). I know the film was raunchy, but "The Sweetest Thing" with Cameron Diaz reminded me of how we spent our late teens in CA. At least my girlfriends and I outgrew the heavy partying before we hit our mid-twenties.

I didn't start 'til then! I was never a h*&l-raiser to begin with, but I didn't really blossom until I was out of college. I just really enjoyed doing the club thing, dancing, and going out with the people I clicked with when I started working. I met my DH at one of the clubs in Boston that was truly THE glamor place to go. Two of the most unlikely people you'd ever expect to meet in a club. But I found him there and I'm mighty glad I did.

Here's a link to the back cover. They crack me up! I can't believe they've had a show on all this time, and I've been missing it! I will definitely start watching it while Law and Order reruns are on.
