We're hiking it September 12. Just the two of us, sort of an "outward bound" for the two of us as part of our 20th wedding anniversary celebration (I'm telling you this in case DH comes back alone and says, "I don't know what happened to my wife...haven't seen her for days!" ;)

I'm looking for help with what I should wear/take along with us. I've never done this sort of hiking before and I'm really looking forward to it. I know that I'll be wearing my regular running shoes since that's all I have.

Any thoughts/ideas/helps would be very much appreciated!

Hey, you'll be on my side of the mtn.(I think)I haven't done that hike.DH and I were just talking about how long it's been since we've been up on the mtn.My SIL does alot of hikes. If I talk to her before then I'll ask about what to wear and all.You could always try calling the park headquarters for some info.

Neat way to celebrate an anniversary.

Eat a balanced breakfast of fat, protein and a little carbs.

Have a camel pack? Make sure you have plenty of water.

I always use tennis shoes (running shoes) for hiking since I like to run.

Pack some nuts of protein bar so you can have something to eat if it takes a while.

Have fun....looks like a great hike.

Found this site this afternoon and thought I'd posted it then. Look at the rave reviews about it. You're practically in the Princess' backyard there.

Thank you Rhonda. DH has hiked this several times, but I never have and I'm really looking forward to it, especially since just the two of us will be going.

We will be staying at a B&B in Sperryville, VA the night before.

No advice, since I'm not yet hiking long treks (and rarely hiking at that), but wow, does that look fun!
