We work with different breeds in our company. Each breed has different temperature charts and light charts. Now one of the company guys has decided that growers no longer need to know which breed they have. They said we need to just watch the breeds and see how they respond to temps. This is the same guy who 5 yrs ago said growers didn't need to know about breeds because they would use it as an excuse.I just feel like the company people have no respect for the work we do or the investment we have in these chicken houses.Plus now the company has made some changes and the competition is getting tighter and tighter. There is no margin for error and truthfully I'm not sure I can handle this.I'm furstrated and scared and feeling very inadequate.

Good luck with all of this, Patty. Your line of work is indeed a miracle in progress everyday, something hard for me to imagine undertaking. You must have the patience of Job and the virtue of Ruth to stick with it thru frustrating times.

Maybe I'm too opinionated, but I wouldn't let that guy get away with this bull. Surely he wants the best chickens for the company, right? What a jerk...and I'd probably tell him so. But if you love your work like you say you do, probably better not say that. I would definitely check with someone higher up. Not telling you something that important is foolish and bad business.

Sounds like the guy has a God complex. It also sounds like he's been wrong before. Any way you can go over his head? Any way you and other growers can jointly lodge a complaint? The more you know about your stock, the better you can care for it.

Patty,

It sounds like the company guy who thinks you do not need this information is the one who is inadequate and should be scard. If the market is tight and there is no margin for error it seems like he should be trying to give you as much assistance as possible.

It sounds like he will hang himself so don't worry too much. Margie:)

If anyone can pull it off, you can.
