I talked to my DS yesterday and she too was bubbling about what a nice day it was outside. She described the weather as perfect. This morning of GMA Charlie Gibson said the weather on the east coast was again "perfect" and now today I see you post saying the weather was great.

I am REALLY yearning to come up at the end of October but I'm being held up from making any concrete plans due to the fact that the state of Texas is going through budget cuts and restructuring and we don't know our month of review yet. I have to be here during the review so if it's October I will have to plan a different time. My DS thinks she is going to wait until January for her surgery but I don't think she will make it that long. I'm holding out hope that I will not have to delay my fall trip!

Just reading your description of your weekend makes me feel a bit refreshed. I think I may have to resort to turning the AC down so that we can cuddle under a blanket and sip hot chocolate! During the dog days of summer you have to be creative!

BTW...My Mom is really surprising me. She had taken control of her life and has not once shut down like I had anticipated. She even went to a wedding on Saturday for one of the Grandchildren on Ed's side of the family. I honestly thought she would bow out but she said that she and Ed had planned to attend and so she followed through with their plans. I not convinced she won't face difficult times ahead but I am so encouraged by her actions.

Good talking with you...Margie :)

I'm really pleased to hear that your mom is holding it together and that she went to that wedding, too - it's like she's honoring Ed by following through on their plans. Maybe she feels that he's watching over her and wants her to feel good. Who knows why we do what we do? Just keep supporting her and keep your radar up for any changes you might sense in your conversations with her.

I'm really cranky with the state of Texas for imposing on our plans this fall! Maybe it will all work out. Either that, or we're going to be strolling around Boston in our woolies and booties. I'm gonna have to find my earmuffs. Imagine a cup of cappuchino and a fresh canoli at the Cafe Paradiso....as long as Phyllis doesn't include them in her challenge (BTW, I don't like the sound of that M&Ms threat - unless the challenge is to eat as many as you can....)

Donna,

You are excactly right about my Mom feeling that Ed is watching over her. She truly feels that he is. It's sort of strange but she has had a calmness (uncommon for her) since this happened. I don't know why we do what we do but it seems to be working for her so I'm happy.

I've now been told at work that we will hear about our review in September. I'm not comfortable enough to make plane reservations yet but I'm feeling hopeful that it won't be in the month of October. In my mind I'm still planning to head that way.

Have a great day! Margie :)
