I brought up challenge last night in chat but got no response at all. Come one ladies. All of us have been talking too much about not being able to get back on track. We need a challenge. Remember in May and June when our name was posted for our miles? We blew away everyone else....we can do it again.

I'm proposing we start Sep 1. We haven't challenged hours worked out yet. I'm talking time for stretch, running, weight training, jazzercise...everything. Let's see how many hours we can rack up and get our name back up on the top of the board.

Now....who's going to do this with me????

I thought the one you came up with for last year was very good -- personalized by the kind of workout we do (just hours counted) and very comprehensive with the eating, water, time for ourselves, etc. If that's too involved, then just hours worked out is good.

Yupper! Count me in.

The new challenge begin Sept. 1st. Is there an end-date? It would be fun to learn our progress over a set period of time.

I'm thinking I'll go to the YMCA and get an analysis written up and that'll be my baseline to target against.

I was just thinking, maybe "hours" is not the best way to tally the workouts, because some require longer than others. Maybe we should just do a "completed workout" or "not completed." What do you think?

Great idea, Phyllis!! We'll do great, I'm sure. Right, JazzerDeb? Well, I may not do great on some days, but a challenge will make me do better.

I'm in. Just tell me what to do (and probably do it for me!?). Just kidding about the last part. Sort of. No really. I'm in. I have to get back on track. Maybe as part of the challenge, we should each spend a day thinking about and then writing out what our goals are. Break the goals into short term, reachable goals. For example:

Unrealistic Goal: I want to lose 25 pounds by the end of the year.

Realistic Goal: I want to lose 1-2 pounds every week.

Unrealistic Goal: I want an upper body like Deb's.

Realistic Goal: I want to get in two upper body workouts a week.

You get the idea, I know.

Phyllis, should we create a separate discussion area for the just the challenge related goals and successes? That way inspiration would be easier to find!

I'm so excited I'm heading out on my power walk right now to get a jump on the challenge. Great idea, Phyllis!

Count me in! Definitely! I must have missed that in chat last night since I was so late. Sounds like a great idea to me.

I like the sound of this one - not too complicated, and a real test of ourselves. I'm in.

I was thinking that hours would be good so that we would get moving a bit more. Maybe add 10 minutes to our treadmill time, get in an additional walk after dinner, get Fido out for an extra walk. I'm hoping that it will get us to put in a little more time into our workouts.

I think goals are a great idea. I don't know how to set up a header for goals but, I'll find out. How about weekly goals? We could pick our top 3 for the week and then post results at the end of the week.
