Trying something new for two months

I am going to try something new for two months. I've picked the two months because it seems to take me that long for good things to become a habit. Bad habits take much less.

Starting tomorrow morning, I plan on walking either on the treadmill or outside before I go to work. I want to get cardio done in the mornings so that I'll have time to do either exercises or weights in the evenings. And on the days that I come home from work exhausted, I will at least have something done that day.

I already get up at 6am on those days and I just can't get any less sleep, so I plan to stay away from the computer early in the morning on those days that I work in town....it is only three days a week so it shouldn't be too much away from the board. I'll really miss the morning plans but I will be able to post in the afternoon accomplishments those days.

I want to give this a two month try. I am hoping that I can make it a habit and that it will get my day started really well. And I'm hoping that I'll do more in the evenings, then. Like lift weights....which I've completely stopped this summer, or doing ab work or extra leg work, etc.

I really do need to recommit to this exercise and eating properly program. This challenge is what I needed to do this. That and the fact that I am pretty disgusted with myself right now. I went to bed last night feeling like a stuffed pig! My stomach actually hurt from all of the garbage that I put into it yesterday. Why did I do that?

So, that is my intention and I may need you gals to tell me to get my butt moving now and then. But, I'll really give this morning stuff a try. I tried it once before and really did hate working out right away when I got up. Maybe I can make myself like it????

Wish me luck!!

Sometimes being really disgusted with oneself (I'm feeling the same way)or looking very hard at yourself, is what we need to do to make a plan and realize how much better we can do and...how much we are capable of.

We'll miss you first thing in the morning but....its an excellent plan...go for it!

I think you have a great plan, Nancy! I hope workouts in the a.m. will work for you - then you know you've done something really good for yourself & you can go about your day with a big positive attitude! I have got to get back in the going to bed at 10 pm mode, myself - then I could get 7 hours of sleep & get in my 5 a.m. workout (after some coffee, of course!).

Good luck with everything!

Good Luck with the plan Nancy. Sounds like a good one! I was always a first thing in the morning exerciser and have had a real problem with it as of late. Been trying to keep up with it in the evening but I'm really considering getting that alarm a little louder and perhaps having DH shove me out of bed and onto the floor. I always felt much better when I got in a good workout first thing in the morning. So I think I'm going to try rejoing the early morning world. Too bad we don't live in the same time zone-we could see if each other is up!

Nancy,

Walking in the AM works best for me also. It gives a great start to the day. I don't enjoy it near as much when I walk in the evening.
