New Experiences for me

We were in the cities this weekend and ate at a mideastern deli on Friday evening. The food was different and the dining experience definately was, too. There was also a grocery store attached to the deli and as we looked around it, it made us realize how limited our little scope on life is out in the midwest where we live. The meat section, for instance, had lamb kidney, lamb liver, goat liver, lamb stomach, lamb tongue, to name a few different things.
We ate at an all 'organic' food place for breakfast on Saturday morning. That was different, also. As was the atmosphere. LOL I told DH that he could not tell anyone what he did for a living or how he did it! We farm but not organic!! LOL
And we stayed at a Bed and Breakfast Saturday night which was the first time we'd done that. We always stay at motels. It was a beautiful place, the people were gracious and the breakfast was out of this world. BUT....I'm not sure how I liked the idea of being in someone else's home. It made me a bit uneasy.....maybe I'd get used to it if I did it a few times. But it was definately a new experience.
Oh, the farmers market in Minneapolis....what an experience that was. Such beautiful produce and it was so much fun!
As we crossed Minesota, I thought of you Tweety! And as we saw building after building of poultry, I thought about you, too, Patty! Some of those buildings were absolutely HUGE!!
Now we're back home and it's time to dig in again. I did get exercise done 6 times last week and I'm pretty pleased about that. And I ate fairly well....until the weekend. But I could have done worse.
I see the board has a couple of new places to post. I'm such a poor person when it comes to checking other places....my internet connection is pretty slow. So hopefully, I'll remember to do that.

You also did great with the exercise last week. I sure wish I could do it...I feel like I am spreading by the minute. The aol connection has been terribly slow here too. It has been for a few days too and it is frustrating when you don't have a lot of time to post.
Have a great week.

DH and I love B&Bs and we both kind of balk at staying in hotels/motels now. The innkeepers are so proud of their properties and so eager for you to have a great time that they represent themselves and their geographic areas wonderfully with all their knowledge of interesting places and historical facts. I think it's almost a leap of faith on their part in the general decency of people that they go into this business of opening their homes to strangers and treating them like family. Although I have no problem being a guest at a B&B, I doubt I have the trust (never mind the energy) to become an innkeeper.
When we go up to Maine in December, to our favorite of all the B&Bs we've stayed at, it's almost like reunion time, because most of the guests return at that time of year every year. I can't imagine that place ever being under different ownership. The innkeeper and his wife don't live on the premises anymore, but they did for the first few years we started going there. They're about a block away and are basically on call if anyone has any problems that their extremely capable staff can't handle. And the innkeeper has a wealth of stories about guest behavior that he relates with great wit and amazing discretion! He keeps us laughing through breakfast.
Thanks for sharing your new experiences. I love Middle Eastern food (ok, I love ALL food), but have never eaten "organic" food on purpose - not too many places like that in the middle of the city (although the People's Republic of Cambridge right across the Charles River probably has a few such establishments within its radical borders).
