Doggone, another leg pain...

This time it's around my inner left ankle, another muscle strain. I now have heel inserts in my running shoes and I'm wearing an ankle support, but no running for me for a few days again. I was going to do an easy run this morning because it's absolutely lovely outside (65 and no humidity, nice breeze), but I could feel that twinge just walking, let alone an easy run. I realize I've got narrow ankles compared to the rest of my build, but geez. How can I keep up the running when the least extra I do to train injures me?

Well, I'll be doing UB/LB, abs and leg lifts today. Sigh.

Hey there feel better and listen to your body. I woke at 3am this moring with the worse charlie horse in my calf. Kept me awake until after 4, but seems better now. Just got back from a 2.5 mile walk/jog and the calf is alright. Maybe just a light walk with your extra leg lifts, and abs is enough. Rest!

Is this going to set you back in your training for the race? Hope not.

You've made terrific progress over the summer. Seems like you were just managing a 1/2-mile jog not so long ago. Take your time and recover.

Wow, Cussette...you are having a run of bad luck with leg pains. Maybe running is too much for your ankles? It is a good thing you are listening to your body and resting it today.

It is so frustrating to want to exercise, but keep getting injured. Hopefully the insoles will help.

Feel better!

I'm sorry to hear that you continue to have more pain. Maybe you need to rest your legs and ankles for a bit. That's hard to do when you enjoy running so much but pain is certainly no fun, either. Take care of yourself and I hope that it will heal up quickly. Nancy

I know what you mean about injury keeping you away from the things you love. I finally had to cut back the Jazzercise, which I love dearly, and do some other things like walking and riding my bike. Now this surgery has me hung up again but at least my ankles and legs are getting a rest...LoL.

I know you have your heart set on running. I don't think that it matters too much how narrow or thick your ankles are. Mine are plenty thick (just ask Phyllis) and they give me no end of grief if I run for so much as a bus. Of course, I'm a bit heavier than you are too. Try adding some other low-impact cardio to your training program and give your gams a break to heal. I learned the hard way what overtraining does to your body. So keep up the walks and think about getting a bike or going for a swim. It couldn't hurt and will probably help.

Good luck.
