Can't believe I forgot!! I don't know how far you are from storm central, or if you're one of the 400,000 people in VA and NC who are out of power as I send this, but I wanted to send my regards and hopes that you, the spouse, and the sons are warm and safe (even if not completely dry).

Take care, and let us know what's happening in Greensboro...

Hope you all are safe and sound at home, Cee. Thinking of your parents also.

Right now it's windy and rainy but not alarmingly so.No power loss here yet but we've been told to expect it.Thanks to my chickies I have a generator and will have some power at the house.Ran to the store for my sister this morning, she had to work, and the place was packed.Got behind a guy whose only purchase was a bottle of wine.Love people that can adapt to a situation :)I thought about going home with him!Interesting to watch different people prepare for the storm. My BIL came home from work early to mow!!!Dh and I were just shaking our heads over that one.By 8pm the storm is predicted to be over us.We're going to check the chickens now and have decided to not go down for an evening check if the weather has intensified by then.Is anyone surprised to know I have a pie baking????Thought it would at least give the illusion of just another cozy night at home.I'll be glad when tonight is over. They say we may even see a glimpse of clearing tomorrow.Hope everyone is safe and well.

Of course you have a pie baking - you had to use the fruit before the electricity goes off and it spoils in the warm refrigerator (I gave you a good excuse - now run with it!).....

Notice my message to Cee - don't we Bostonians usually drop the "r" from the END of words? Actually my office is so cold I can't feel my fingers.....

I think the pie baking makes perfect sense. Weather is so weird! We had so much rain a while back that I had to spray my dwarf hollys for "root rot," which causes places to die-out in the shrub. Still need to trim that out. Now, it's so hot and dry that the lawn is burning. I just got finished mowing. I'd like to get just a tad of the rain from Isabel without the wind. My relatives are just outside of D.C., but they seem to be fine so far. Tim flew out of Dulles near Sassy on Tuesday and has to fly back into there, but hopefully, things will be back to normal late Sunday when he gets there.

I'm glad everything is OK with all you VA and Carolina people up to this point. I heard that winds are down to 95 miles an hour, which is still nothing to sneeze at, but I'm glad it's not still 160. Maybe by the time it gets up into western PA and NY it will have weakened further.

During hurricane season I keep tons of peanut butter, canned tuna, canned or dried soup, bottled juice, and other things that don't require electricity or refrigeration. I have a manual canopener too. They warn us to make sure the car is gassed up, to have cash, prescriptions refilled, pet food and litter, baby supplies like diapers and stuff, masking tape for the windows, and all the other usual emergency items. I must have 6 giant jars of peanut butter and 3 dozen cans of tuna from when they've had buy one get one free specials at the store. LOL! I also have a bunch of gallon jugs and a large orange container like construction guys use to store store water in. They say to fill the bathtubs and washing machine too for water storage.

Well, you know we are all thinking about you guys in Mother Nature's way. Take care and try to stay safe and dry.

Hugs,

Rhonda
