more bad news. The doctors had found a mass on FIL's neck which they had ruled out as cancerous but have now determined that he has a goiter and will never be able to eat normally again and that he will remain on a feeding tube for the rest of his life. He is being transferred back to the rehab center which I'm sure at this point will be more of a nursing home care facility.

About an hour later DD called to tell me that her latest pap shows very high abnormal cells. She will have to go through a coloscopy to see what's going on. The dr didn't think it was cancerous but can't give her 100% reassurance.

I really am a mess and I'm trying to reassure her but I really feel like I'm falling apart at the seams.

Please say a prayer for our family that whatever lies ahead we have the strength to deal with it.

Susan, I'm very sorry you're having so many stressful things happen. My older sister had a goiter and was able to be treated for it. I would think there'd be something they could do for your father-in-law.

I had abnormal, pre-cancerous cells years ago and had some minor procedures done to take care of them (knock on wood). Also, you can get a false reading on a PAP or have other things happen that are not severe, so just pray that's all it is. I know it's hard to be calm when your family is involved.

I will add her to my prayer list.

Hugs,

Rhonda

Some things are just out of our control. All we can do is to keep praying. As for the colonoscopy, I've been through it 3 times. I have colon cancer on both sides of my family. I've had polyps removed all 3 times. Chances are, she's fine. Colonoscopy is the best way to take a look at what's going on.

Keep praying and hang in there.
