Just curious if any of my Fit over 40 buddies enjoy going to the ballet? I haven't been in SOOOO long and I'm going with girlfriends to a 7pm show this Sunday in Seattle. It's at the brand new locale of Pacific Northwest Ballet and I'm excited to say the least....here is the website. Isn't the ballerina PRETTY???????????????? My friend whose 2 year old is taking ballet (how cute) is the one who organized it. Always nice to have someone who organizes things :o).

I'd love to go more often, but I'm the only one interested. Cost can be a factor, too. My niece started ballet and tap lessons and loves it, so I'm taking her to the Nutcracker for a special "girls' day out" two weekends before Christmas. I don't begrudge any $ spent, but the ticket prices are truly ridiculous, even for adults. I waited to take her because I figured she's less antsy than she used to be and will actually sit in her seat, plus now she's interested in dance.

Maybe I've found my dance show companion....

I LOVE ballet! Used to want to be a ballerina when I was little and was allowed to take pointe when I was 5, which you should never do, but I was thrilled and wouldn't trade the recital pictures for anything! Erin and I had season tickets to the Florida Ballet (front row loggia) for two years and went to the Nutcracker for many years each Christmas season. My 2nd cousin was a member of the Florida Ballet cast and was excellent. She teaches now.

The ballerina on the site is beautiful! What a high arch/instep she has. Hope you have a wonderful time!

My daughter was my ballet companion and for many years the Nutcracker was our "girls' day out" too. She'd wear her Christmas dress and special jewelry, and we'd have lunch or dinner (depending on the time of the show) at a fancy restaurant on the river and see the festive show. It was a tradition for a long time, and I miss it. Rob and Tim have gone with me a couple of times too, but they tend to get bored. Treasure the times with your niece.

I can't wait til I can't take McKenna to "Nutcracker," which is the last ballet I went to a few years ago--her mom (Erin) sprung for tickets for everyone in the family to go as a surprise.

I got on the Pacific Northwest Ballet site after my girlfriend suggested going--and found that the classical music radio station had a buy one get 2nd ticket 1/2 off for Sunday 7pm show only. We jumped right on that "deal." SO with four of us, it isn't so bad to go for an evening show. Now...what to wear to the ballet LOL...

Thanks! I never (boo hoo) got to take any dance classes as a child, it just didn't come up. But I don't exactly have the ballerina physique. In Jazzercise, we're doing a little adult ballet every now and again and I say "HEY LOOK I AM A BALLERINA"..with my clunky crosstrainers and sweaty body LOL. But it feels so good to do even a few of the moves. For a long time I had a beautiful ballerina as my screen saver.
