http://www.biltmoreinns.com/quality_frames.html Click on "Our Hotels" at the top to see the 3 different properties.

What do you think of these 3 hotels? They are withing blocks of the Biltmore Estate and near other attractions. They're also nice and reasonable. The Sleep Inn is the middle of the 3 price-wise. Maybe we could email or call to see about a group rate. I'd think we'd need to tell them at least 6 rooms, but we don't have a count yet. We need to determine how many single rooms and how many shared rooms to get a fairly reliable number, but better too many than too few.

If I wore cords I'd probably start a fire!! Do you have any steel-toed glass slippers?? Probably not much market for those. I have some sort of hiking boots, but I never hike. I mostly walk on the beach or in the mall, although I just got in from walking the pupsters. I'll probably be doing a lot more of that now.

I live in jeans except for business type things. It can get pretty chilly in Asheville even in mid-October, so I know I'll be taking a jacket and some warmer stuff. Layers are a good idea. Over in Gatlinburg, TN, which is a higher elevation, there was actually snow on the some of the mountains in mid-Oct. one of the times we went. It could also be beautiful, so that's why I'm thinking in terms of layers. I get cold faster than most people too.

I wouldn't mind dressing up a little for dinner one night either in slacks or a skirt or dress. I don't mean cocktail type stuff, but just something a little more festive. What do you guys think?

I think one dress up night would be nice also.

Er....what's corduroy? Haven't recognized that as a fabric since high school.

Rhonda, based on your comments about what the weather could be, I can't wait to get there! A nice group dress dinner, probably on the Saturday evening - minus ruffles, feathers, sequins, and glitter - sounds wonderful. I'll even leave my Birkis home and bring mid-heeled pumps (reconsidering leaving the Birkis home). There must be some nice inns near the Sleep Inn - within walking distance - that have nice dining rooms or reputations for fabulous food? Can't imagine there wouldn't be.

You don't have to wear heels. Some nice flats or boots would be fine, and if you wear slacks, you could get away with trouser socks, knee highs, or tights. Actually, tights and flats or boots could work with a skirt or dress too. I would want my legs covered at night, because I'm pretty sure I'd be cold.

I think Ralph Lauren still does some corduroy, and I saw some pincord fabric in the fall J. Jill catalog. I've seen it mentioned in some magazines too, so it must be making a comeback, although I don't think it's ever gone out of style with Talbots, Eddie Bauer, Land's End, and other traditional companies.

I couldn't find where it was posted but, I like the idea of putting $20 away a week.
