It may be worth looking into fying into RDU - Raleigh-Duham International and driving around 4-5 hours to Ashville. Many times, friends that want to go to both South Carolina and North Carolina find the airfare much cheaper going to RDU then driving. South Carolina is also about 4-5 hours and so is Virgina. Florida is about 8-10 hours.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's a pretty long drive, especially after flying half a day or more, but for some of the people who live farther away it may be feasible. I checked on Expedia, and it's supposedly a little over 7 hrs. from my house to Biltmore. I don't see how that can be, because it's farther than Atlanta. I'm wondering if Expedia takes into consideration traffic conditions around the larger cities. I'll see if I can find out how far it is from the Asheville airport to Biltmore.

According to Expedia.com, it's 5.2 miles (10 min.) from the Asheville Airport to Biltmore.

Well, that’s sound like the best route for you. I agree with Phyllis that it somewhat feels like a flight to Europe and sometimes I even feel like I’m living in another country here in North Carolina LOL!

Have a nice day!

North Carolina is such a beautiful state, and there's such a variety of terrain and things to see and do from the coast to the mountains, not to mention the furniture and textile outlets!! We like the big outlet mall near Lumberton (I think) off I-95 too.
