Time to take another deep breath

DH went to see the urologist last night about his PSA and free cell test results. His latest PSA results were actually better but the free cell test (which apparently are the a better indicator of something being wrong) were way off. Of course that leaves the Dr scratching his head because if the free cell is off the PSA should be going up and not down. Physical examination shows everything is fine but he still wants to do a biopsy. Of course this is the thing DH has been fighting all the way. The Dr agreed to run one more set of blood work and based on those results the Dr will either tell him he needs to go for the biopsy or to monitor him closely. Of course the man scares me to death with his whole outlook on cancer and cancer treatment if it ever came down to that. He has a very defeatist attitude towards it and we've had several conversations that I hoped if that if that were ever the diagnosis for either of us that he would change his attitude because his outlook would never benefit a good outlook towards recovery.

So again I'm putting one more thing in the back of my head and dealing with each day as it comes and staying positive.

Big fat hugs coming your way. What's one more thing to worry about huh? I'm thinking of your and your DH and hoping things go well.

Sending good wishes, too, Susan - hope things turn out well. The doctor sounds like a gigantic help - bedside/chairside manner sorely lacking. I think they see so much every day that they just don't realize the impact of bad - or uncertain - news on their patients. They're looking at a condition, not a "person". Shameful. There's more time for compassion than what he's showing, HMOs and 15-minute visits be damned.
