The Ponte Vedra Inn and Spa is a gorgeous complex by the ocean that stretches for blocks on both sides of AIA. As soon as I walked into the spa at 8:50 AM, it was like being in a different world. It has been years since I've been there, and they've built a whole new facility. We went to the waiting area/dressing room/sauna/steam room area where they had different kids of coffee, tea, water with lime and mimosas set up. We changed into robes and slippers and put our stuff in lockers while we waited to be called. Outside the windows and glass door, there was a beautiful stone waterfall behind a large jacuzzi and a large patio for relaxing.
My first treatment was a facial. Their idea of a facial includes your face, neck, chest and shoulders, hands and upper arms, and feet and lower legs. With the steam, cleansers, lotion, massage, soft lights and music, and heavenly smells of the different potions, it was just wonderful.
Back to the lobby to wait for the next treatment. I drank some delicious black currant tea and started reading the newest issue of "Shape." Treatment too was the hot oil/sea salt body polish. I started off by getting to go in a large indoor jacuzzi for about 10-15 minutes. I was able to position myself so the jets hit my lower back and the balls of my feet -- really nice. Then onto the table face down where she slathered the best feeling hot oil/sea salt combon on and rubbed it in briskly. Flipped over and got the front done. Then I was sponged off with an almond scented soapy water and went into the shower to get the balance off. Back to the table where she sprayed citrus oil on and massaged that in. Got wrapped in a blanket for 5 minutes to let the oil soak in. By then, I was already feeling like a limp noodle, I was so relaxed.
Back to the waiting room for more tea and reading, then on to the Swedish massage. It was 50 minutes of wonderful massage and felt particularly good on the areas of my neck and back where I have injuries.
Lisa and I met back up for lunch in their dining room -- a "sumptuous" buffet of various seafood pasta salads, garden salad, a delicious spicy tomato soup with bits of ham, sliced baked chicken, all kinds of fresh fruits, an assortment of sandwiches and wraps, some crusty bread, Key Lime Pie, and what looked to be a cross between Pecan Pie and cheesecake. I can't believe I didn't eat any dessert. Lisa is a good influence on me.
After lunch we had our pedicures side-by-side. I got "Big Apple Red" toenails, so they'll match what I'm wearing to our luncheon later this week. Our final treatment was a manicure. We stuck with French Manicures.
After changing clothes, we sat out on the patio and enjoyed the sunny 86 degree weather and the wonderful breeze. I could easily have gone to sleep. We left at 3:15. What a perfect day!
I did manage to check a few stores for shoes with no luck, but did find a cute red hat on sale I couldn't pass up just in case I ever join a Red Hat Society. I can always wear it for one of our RWCDF annual hat meetings, if I don't. A cute denim jacket with a flag motif on it I'd oredered from Cold Water Creek came today. I'm thinking I might need it for marching in the Veteran's Day Parade with our group if the weather is chilly.
When I got home, I fell into bed. All that pampering made me feel like a jellyfish.

P.S. If I had more time, I'd join the Red Hat Society as a pinkie! I think it is grand!
I think you'd make a fabulous pinkie! I love the philosophy of the group and think I just may go to a meeting to check one out on the 31st. They're having lunch at a restaurant on the river downtown, and a woman who's become my new best friend since the campaign I worked in is talking about going too. She'd also be a pinkie. I've discovered it's much harder to find pink hats than red (unless maybe in the spring). She found a beautiful linen one when she went to Savannah recently. Another friend who belongs to another chapter said her group did a day trip to Savannah last weekend. She said there were the most beautiful hats of all kinds in several of the stores they went in. I'm sure those southern belles up there are probably big into them for church. I think hats are making a bit of a comeback in some places. I wouldn't want to wear them all the time, but once in a while is fun.

Your day at the spa sounds wonderful. It one of the things in life I've wanted to do but always seem to convince myself I don't need to spend the money on. I felt pampered just reading your post.
