Got up Saturday to find the "bug" had invaded me that everyone seems to be passing around in the Great NW. On the calendar after workout was a wedding for Eric's Co-worker. The invite seemed way out there to me...."ShangriLa"..and according to the map, in the middle of nowhere--washington. On the back of the map it read "where to stay"...and she said you can pitch a tent on premises, park your RV, or stay in town.

THIS should be interesting I thought. We left a few hours early, I had heard there was a consignment shop where a woman (she's some kind of psychic, Linda Evans used to live here and she was associated with this woman) who had gained a lot of weight and had all her neato clothes on consignment close by where the wedding was being held in a little town. Of course I didn't know the name of the shop, just a mention from a friend. The only place we managed to find was a bakery haha.

Got to the wedding locale, passed lots of people on their bikes, and hunters. Interesting combo, right? I'm thinking we're going to this place in the middle of nowhere, and we'll be shot.

After missing a few of the exits and slamming on the brakes a few times, we found the wedding balloons marking the site. Drove down a rocky rugged road to find....

...............Shangri La......................

I need to loosen up more, go with the flow, not be such a crotchedy old lady LOL....

This was the coolest wedding ever!!!

Nestled down in a gorge, there was a river on one side, and beautiful waterfalls on the other, there was a private park, and a huge party house that looked like an open cabin. Lots of seating, they had a bar, and a roaring fire going (it was cool outside). The wedding was set up facing the waterfalls. The white satin walking area for the wedding party was dotted with pumpkins, the first floral arrangements were huge pumpkins carved out inside to hold beautiful fall floral arrangements.

Bride's bouquet was all fall flowers, the attendants wore brown satin ballroom skirts with beige sweaters (looked like comfy cashmere) and shawls. They wore boots too !

Bride came down in a golf cart...hehe...it was pretty steep from the top of the hill down to the bottom where the wedding was.

Anyway---it was a terrific day, about 100 people, they bbq'd beef tenderloin, served it with scallopped potatoes, rolls and salad with nuts and fruit and blue cheese. For "favors", they had jars of homemade jam with each couples name on one.

Just too neat and cute for words. Lovely day :o)

The wedding sounds gorgeous and so clever!! I love the idea of the waterfall backdrop and bouquets in the pumpkins, and the bridesmaids' outfits were too neat (probably prettier than any of the dorky bridesmaid's dresses usually sold). What was the bride's gown like?

Wow! I that is so unique! Sounds like a day everyone will remember in detail – not just the bride and groom. By the way, I can relate to your initial feeling of not especially wanting to go through the effort of finding this place – especially in the middle of nowhere and outdoor camping optional. Once, we decided to spend a weekend at a Halloween-Murder-Mystery place but directions were bad. We were temporarily in the middle of nowhere and boy, was I both nervous, angry, and just wanting to go home but when we got there, it was wonderfully fun and we still laugh about it today.

Poor thing, she was very thin and very cold!!! She wore an ivory sleeveless dress made with love from a friend, buttons from the top to way way down her back, something "old"..an antique pin on the front, and one at the back---she was going to wear boot to but decided to go mainstream at the last minute. Her identical twin sister was the maid of honor!

The bride and her Mom had found a material store that was going out of business so they got the perfect fall colors (orangeish) to make buffet table sized long tablecloths, and they also made individual matching napkins for everyone. I'm amazed at all the work they went through.
