Steamed about gym temp

I don’t know what the real deal was but working out in temperatures over 75-degrees is no good for me! Even those ladies that never even break-out into a fine mist were perspiring while I looked like the human waterfall! The Mgr said the temps were best warm so muscles wouldn’t cramp I’m not sure if I buy it. It definitely slowed down the time and intensity of my workout :^( Not that I want it below zero, but 70-72 with an optional fan helps!

Anyway, I’m just letting off steam. Thanks for listening.

haha....we're such complainers in class, that if it were up that high you'd hear us all! We're in an old community center and last winter they fixed the system so the heater couldn't be turned off (we were used to upping heat before we start class and turn off once class starts). We hated that heater. Right now we have about five floor fans going on in class to make us comfy.

I don't like to get overheated when doing cardio....what do others think?

Warmer temps might be better for your muscles, but it's not good if you're passing out from heat stress. If it's over 60 degrees outside, we have the AC and the fans running during the cardio workout and then turn them off as we cool down. I know if I get too hot, I get really dizzy and cranky and I get a raging headache. Not mention that losing that much water that quickly really makes me feel lousy and NOT WANT TO WORK OUT. I don't have a problem with getting sweaty...it's just a good sign of fitness.

If it were me, I'd complain strenuously about the heat level or else bring along a fan.

My basement is usually cool, and I still have a fan blowing over me while I'm working out. I'm keeping my own muscles warm through exertion; I don't need that stifling feeling all around me - feels too much like a panic attack coming on. I'd get a group together and mutiny to get the heat turned down.

75 is even to warm to be comfortable in your home I think.

I don't buy it either and in fact, I usually take a warm shower before stretching and working out. I started laughing at the thought of everyone workingout naked! It's a good thing this is a Women's Only gym!

Yeah, I was feeling a little fuzzy and that's why I had to leave earlier than planned. To top it off, I had taken a warm shower to make stretching easier! If I would have known, I guess I should have taken a cold shower! LOL! :^)

Now, that sounds like a good idea! I plan to go back on Friday and if temps are still hot, I'll see who's with me on taking over the thermastat! ;^)
