Wednesday Afternoon Check-in....

How's your day going? Did anyone have an "ah-ha" moment? I did. My dentist is a sadist. That's my ah-ha moment for the day. She's a new dentist in the practice. Hate her :)

Everyone get their workout in today? I did. Cardio (treadmill), including a little light jogging to give the old knee a try. No abs, but pumped big time lats and shoulders. Sore already. Feels great!

Started reading the South Beach Diet. I actually think it might be doable. As long as I don't have to give up my coffee with sugar and half&half. Hey, it's fat-free half&half. Oh, alright. I can do it without my sugar and half&half but I'm not going to be happy about it the first couple of days (or weeks). I'm going to make a deal with DH...who passed down all of his 36 waist pants to DS last weekend, that I will have everything in the house and have stuff all ready for his breakfast and lunch to take to work, if he'll just do it. I worry about him. Family history sort of stuff. He was already supposed to have had a heart scan and a recheck on this cholesterol. Neither of which he has done. Short of hitting him over the head with a skillet and dragging him there, I don't know what else to do. His cardiologist will stop refilling his scripts eventually and MAKE him come in for the required tests.

Anticipating the SBD consuming our lives, this was our dinner last night...chicken breasts ontop of Stove Top Stuffing, with cream of chix soup and chedder cheese and a side of roasted potatoes and some corn. Did I mention bread? Bread, too. My oldest took one look at dinner and said, "two words...carb overload". He rubbed his hands together with glee, piled up his plate and headed to the chair to consume one of his (although he doesn't know it yet) last carb loaded meals for awhile. Yup. The whole family is pretty much going to have to eat the SBD way with DH and I.

Fess up, girls...how's your day been?

Sassy :)

Sassy - Posted to you under Patty's "Had a Good Time" note. Sorry about your dentist - I'm a baby about dental treatments. I can't take novocaine; I hate the thought of a shot in my mouth - too many close encounters with pins during sewing efforts. Headphones and a few breaths of nitrous oxide and the sound of the drill doesn't seem half-bad. If the drilling gets too close to something sensitive, then I'll take the novo.

Today has gone well. I'm still in a good mood from the concert (humming a lot - something's definitely up) and that wonderfully sane person I'm working with this week is holding true to form; my boss even commented on his decisiveness. I just smiled at him and asked if he had a cloning device handy.

I still intend to follow through on my workout tonight - I may even put on a CD or two in place of TV and kick it up a notch.

Ah-ha moment - my 4 YO nephew might turn out to be an engineer. My sister relayed a couple of stories to me earlier today about him that pointed to that profession as his potential future. Talk about the worm turning!!! I bet Sharon and Rhonda would be LOL'ing right about now, remembering my past engineer posts....

No ah-ha moments here.A few ah-heck moments :) Got a run in and then headed down to CL.I came out to get cleaned up and run an errand.I'm heading back down til time to make dinner. Then I'll head back down and hopefully finish before chat.Getting ready for the birds to come back is such a job. Kind of like getting ready for a bunch of very picky houseguests. After reading Donnas post I've had Shania's songs running thru my head all day. It's amazing how much we look alike.....from the ankles down!!

The day's been a pretty good one. DD held up very well during her procedure and Mama did OK while waiting in the waiting room. Very nice doctor, explained everything about the next step and answered all our questions thoroughly and set several fears aside. So phase 2 is over.

I did say I was going to do a few household chores after I got home but you can see where I am! OK I really am going to clean up the kitchen now before dinner prep has to begin and put away my laundry that's been sitting in the basket awaiting it's removal from same.

I'm really sorry you mentioned the dentist Sassy because I really really need to go. I've scheduled 2 appointment and had to cancel both-I really got to take care of that but think I'll wait until the other medical emergencies are gone around here.

I, of course, noticed the resemblance immediately upon meeting you. What a burden it must be for you to always be mistaken for Shaq...I mean Shania :)

That reminds me that I need to clean out the fast fading summer flowers from my flower bed and get it ready for pansies and other cooler weather flowers.

Which also reminds me, I've decided to visit a Red Hat Society meeting on Halloween, and it's their costume party! I love those, but most people are party poopers about them. Not this group! They have some funny ideas for costumes, but you still have to wear a red hat. I'm thinking about going as a purple pansy. I could get some sheets of posterboard and make a petal out of each, stick them together, and wear them on the front of me -- or -- I could be a purple cup and saucer with the string from the tea bag hanging out and the tea tag on it that says Red Zinger (I could print that on the computer). I think I might like that, because it would be 3-dimensional. I'll probably decide later today.

I got my cardio workout in, about 40 minutes, skipping a few of the exercises and routines from still being sore on my restart of exercising. I did half of one set of pushups, and when perky Allie said "Alright, let's do another set of pushups" I replied "In your dreams". I was running out of time too, with having to shower, get dinner on the table, and get ready for choir practice.

Loved your pre-SBD story!
