I've always had great success with portion control. If I have truly made up my mind to lose the weight, I will. Even though I reduced my carbs some, eating smaller portions and not eating after a certain time at night guarantees weight loss for me. I can slack up some when I'm in maintenance. Tonite, I'm going to have to eat dinner after 6 p.m. because I don't get off until 6. I hate that, but I do intend to eat a light dinner.

In addition to Portion Control... cutting out sweets and snacks!

Portion control, yes! I agree. I had my success in losing the 38 lbs of fat with Weight Watchers (I think it's a great plan -- and it's portion control), but I haven't followed the points program (meaning writing down all my points) while keeping the fat off for almost the last two years. I've kept it off with fitness and eating less. I'm eating everything and not cutting out food groups. Just eating healthier.

So to define what eating plan we've had the most success with...

to get the body fat (not just QUICK scale weight loss which I will not do) off?

or is success to keep the fat off for a certain period of time once you lose it?

I've seen a lot of fast success with quick (scale) loss off plans, but I've seen the discouragement when those who have lost gained it right back and more.

I'm very sensitive about this because at my age I do not want fast scale weight losses (losing lean body mass/water), but body fat loss. For me---Success will be defined as keeping the fat off I lost in 2001 for the long-term and striving to reach a new fitness level. I can't afford to go up and down on the scales. I'm voluptuous--not looking to be thin, just healthy me.

Have been trying to have the biggest meal at lunch and lightest meal in the evening - mostly various soups with a salad or a sandwich and Crystal Light Iced Tea or water. Will keep you posted if there IS actual weight loss from this.

In my past its been WW. I keep trying others, as you all know but I seem to come back to what I know and understand the best. With the Curves diet, SB diet, and Atkins giving up those carbs does not work for me.

I think you're gorgeous, Deb! I agree with your philosophy, too! I love to eat & I absolutely refuse to give up certain foods! I do wish to eat healthier, though! I WISH I had more time for fitness, but that WILL happen in the near future. I love what curves I have (mainly on the bottom) - just not my thighs - but I can tone them up, huh?

I can't wait to join WW - my friends at Dillard's tease me, though, about how I don't need to lose weight - however, I think I would love the program and learn alot from it. I want some good companionship and recipes, too!

Hugs,

Kat

Kat--------thanks for the lovely compliment!!!

About joining WW even if you're at goal, I noticed a lot of instructors on the Jazzercise board (who look incredible) have joined WW or are using the program (maybe not joined but have the info from ww boards), just to walk the talk (eat healthy) AND be able to support their students on the total package (healthy eating and fitness).

I'm so glad you appreciate your body and your body's curves. HOPING women stop buying into what the media tv magazines aghhh say we should look like. We should look like healthy women (who have curves) in their 40s, not 16 year olds meant to look 21.

I think WW is a great idea-------hey you may encourage me to go to my online program I pay for every month. They do give great ideas and I'm looking always on the lookout for great ideas. Just need to incorporate more of them into my life :o).

Share the recipes you get from WW meetings that work well, ok? I still love Cooking Light mag as a resource. I keep one in the car for grocery store runs.
