Welcome to the board! I missed your posting below but congrats on your hard work. BTW, I fit into what I call size 81012---anything from 8-12 (especially larger on top). Skirts 8...most dresses 10 and if it's fitted in the BUST...a 12. So sizes are pahoeey if the range is so wide.

I was in San Diego at a Hollywood museum last year and they had a teeny tiny dress from the 1940s-50sish from one of the stars on display along with the pattern it was made from. This thing was TINY...and the pattern was a size 12. So with Americans getting heavier...the clothing folks are on to us and helping our egos don't you think?

One more thing..I was buying a dress and the store clerk explained with the way clothes are made now, you can't just pick up a size such and such and bring it home. They stack the material, then a machine cuts it, by the time it cuts the bottom piece of material it's cut bigger. She said you could try on two of the same size (let's say 10) dress and one will be more generous than the other...same dress, same size, because of the way they mass produce them now.

You know, I saw something on TV about Levi's and how they're made and they showed a man with a huge saw cutting a stack of fabric about a foot thick. I can see how the sizes wouldn't be quite so true for all the pieces. Think how messed up the sizes must be if they use different pieces from different parts of the stack...

Uh oh...my nerdiness is showing again...sorry to over-analyze...

Both brands of my size 6's I got yesterday must have been from "the bottom of the stack." That would explain it.

Lori, I'm serious when I post that I'm sure I've seen some of those kind of clothes you post about - in Dillards!

I don't THINK so! We're going to have to start calling you "little bit"! Congratulations on being a size 6 in jeans - I doubt I will ever get to that jean size!

You're giving me the benefit of the doubt. I tend to go with the bottom of the stack theory. LOL! In the "olden days," as Rob refers to them, 4's were big on me with no effort. Ah, youth... (well, in my early 40's).
