Hi....my name is Donna and my husband bought a treadmill. The first two times I used it I was dizzy when I finished. This is what I did and I was wondering if you know what I'm doing wrong, by the way I'm over 45. What I did was I walked for 2 minutes at 1.5 speed and 6 minutes at 2.5 and then 2 minutes at 1.5 again and then I stopped. When I stepped off the treadmill I got dizzy. I don't know the correct way to do this (time and speed). Could someone please help me?? thanks...

Hi Donna,

Hi and Welcome to the FOF board! I have no advise about treadmill walking mainly because I don't own one and my walking is done outside! But just wanted to add a Hello and hope that you post with us!

Hi, Donna - The other Donna here. Welcome to the board! I use my treadmill religiously, and I warm up around 4.2 mph, do intervals from 4.6 to 5.2 mph, and cool down from 4.0 to 3.5 mph. Just breathe deeply as you're on it and do a good cool-down when you're finishing up; I'll take as long as 15 minutes sometimes for that part. Is your BP normal? Do you work out after you've had caffeine or something starchy or sugary to eat? Those things always bothered me if they kicked in during a workout - light-headed, kind of loopy feeling and my breathing would get shallow.

Post often! We look forward to getting to know you!

Hi Donna - no advice but wanted to welcome you, and just share that I feel lightheaded after running. Not really dizzy, and I don't notice it while I'm running, but when I stop, I notice that my legs feel rubbery (not achy) and my head feels "airy". I attribute it to working out, blood flow carrying oxygen to my head and andrenaline. My air flow is fine, and I adjust my speed when I'm laboring too hard.
