Yipppee!!! The soft cast is off and I can actually get my foot wet again after 8 weeks. I do have to wear athletic shoes all the time, even around the house, but at least it is a shoe.

Hi Grace,

I was out to the deli today and had stopped at Dunkin Donuts for a cup of coffee and you had popped into my head wondering how you were doing. I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better. This has been quite an ordeal for you. Now don't you be overdoing it! So glad to hear from you and that you're on the mend.

Hi, Grace - Nice to hear from you. That's quite an ordeal you went through; like you said, I think of it as "just bunion surgery" and never anticipated the kind of recovery you've been having. Take care of yourself and don't push it. I can hear the frustration in your note about not being able to work out and dealing with eating out of frustration and boredom; but please don't push yourself to get back to full exercising. Do whatever upper body work you can do; the rest will come around.

One of the young women in my office - she's about 25 - is an avid cycler and kayaker. She has had two foot surgeries in the past 6 months on the same foot for the same problem (she did it while cycling - don't exactly know how), and has about a 50-50 chance of the surgery being effective this time - before the surgery, it was 70-30 in her favor, and the odds dropped after the doctor went in there the second time. She's quite discouraged, to say the least, but she's trying to be patient. Please please go easy.

Are you going to have the other foot done as soon as recovery from the first one is done, or are you going to wait until the winter passes?

So nice to have you back!

So wonderful to hear that your cast is off and you're able to get around. That's terrific! I wish so much that you had some of the magnetic insoles with the far infrared technology in them. Even though I'm not supposed to make medical claims, it's amazing how many people have reported how much they help to heal broken bones and help repair nerve damage. The big medical report that came out regarding diabetic neuropathy showed how well they repair nerve damage due to diabetic peripheral neuropathy even, but that kind can take 4-6 months. Still, it's relatively inexpensive, non-invasive, has no side effects, and helps, and it took a long time for the condition to get to that point.

I was surprised at how long the recovery time is for something like

Good to hear from you and hope you continue to heal. Do take it easy, though, as there is no rushing healing.

Hugs,

Kat
