Well, I had a day filled with doctors!

I saw the chiropracter this morning and because of my numbness in my left hand and foot along with my pain and the fact that I get lightheaded, he sent me to the medical doctor first. I just got back from seeing her and she said I don't need to worry about having a stroke.....A STROKE?! Who said I was having a stroke?! I guess that was my chiropracters concern and thats why he sent me there. But anyhoo, she examined me and when I told her I was cutting down bushes and halling them to the back garage on Friday and then I biked for an hour and after that my pain started. She tells me to stand in the position I was in when cutting the bushes. I used an electric thing to do the cutting and as I was showing her we both started to laugh at the same time! My posture and movements all show exactly why I'm hurting today! My numbness and pain are identical to the kind I had 10 years ago when I had a sledding accident and ended up with an inflamed disc. She said that having an injury like that and doing the movements I was doing could very easily irrate it again. SO....she gave me some samples of celebrax and a prescription for a muscle relaxer for evening. I don't know if I'll get the prescr. filled. Not sure I like taking those things. But we'll see...if I don't sleep good again tonite I'll be at the drugstore in the morning begging for them! I have some exercises I have to do and she said to lay off on the yard work for a while....OH DARN! hahaha! But I can still do some walking! Yes! So I will try to do a mile tonite. Think of me when your working out and sweatin'...cause I'm missing it already and can't wait to get back into it again!

I feel your pain! So glad to know it's something that should be fairly treatable. The dr. had mentioned that my lower back problem is partially a positional thing and sounds as though yours is too. Trimming dwarf shrubs is one of the hardest things on my back, because of the bending and holding the weight of the clippers. One reason I use manual ones is that they're lighter than the electric ones.

I mowed today, but also bought 153 mixed colors dwarf snapdragons and pansies I'll have to plant. I've got my work cut out for me, but the weather is gorgeous for it. It was 85 with a nice breeze today.

Take care and remember that yard work will still be waiting for you when you heal. I know it's hard, but maybe you could take a book outside to read or do something else that's not strenuous and still get some sunlight and fresh air.

Hugs,

Rhonda

Hope you get better soon, Tweety! That would be what I would have thought of too, but I'm so glad it wasn't a stroke. Take it easy like the doctor says.

Yard work is much more strenuous than one might think.

Well I'm certainly glad it wasn't a stroke! I'm also glad it's nothing so serious. Take care of yourself and get some rest.

Wouldn't it be nice if we were conscious of our posture and bearing as we're doing manual labor? I can barely remember to stand straight and hold in my tummy waiting for the train some days, never mind hauling and yanking yard debris around.

I hope you feel better soon, Tweets. Take those muscle relaxants when you go to bed - you'll sleep better and most of the woozies will be gone by the next morning. I'll be thinking of you as I'm pounding the dreadmill tonight!

Sorry you are having trouble with numbness and pain. I can relate. It is strange that certain things you do that you take for granted can make trouble down the line.
