different from this one. I posted as a newbie there today, and as of a little while ago there had been 40-some views to my post. Not a single person bothered to welcome me. That would NEVER happen here!

I know and I try to not get hurt feelings over things like that especially since I usually can't post very much myself, but . . . one walking board comes to mind for me. I posted that I live in Longview, TX and that I love to walk trails and the CL didn't even welcome me (I think she lives in Longview too) and I thought well maybe she thinks I'm trying to meet her in person. I personally wouldn't get my feelings hurt if someone were to post a welcome that did not include an offer to meet me - just a welcome to the board would have been fine, though. I thought that was extremely strange. I haven't visited that board since then.

We WOULD get the friendliest board award I bet!

It doesn't hurt my feelings, because I've posted on enough other boards to know that ours is unique (Yeah for us!!), but I do find it annoying. Boards moan and groan about their participation falling off, but often they don't do anything to encourage new posters to feel a part of the group or to hold current posters' attention.

I just thought I'd point out that once again, we are the best!

How can you tell how many people have viewed your post?

In the outline view, right under the title of the post, it will tell you how many posts and how many times they've been viewed. If you have only one post, then you know all the

Well, I'll welcome you to the SBD board over here!

I don't even remember getting an official welcome - I just dove into the middle of a conversation and told people to visit my website if they were interested in finding out more about me.

Check back over there in a few days - someone probably will have responded by then. There are lots of newbies signing on over there every day. If you saw one of the check-in threads, there are more than 130 members hopping on and off. There are a handful of very knowledgeable members (one who posts infrequently is an MD and the mom of young children, another is a speech pathologist, another is a retiree on Cape Cod, another is either a nurse taking advanced level courses or is studying for her nursing degree - she's practically a neighbor - lives 2 towns away from me). There are also a few who haven't done enough research and so are catching on to the program more slowly. And there are Atkins guerillas who stop by to stir up trouble; I think I encountered one last week and gave her a piece of what's left of my mind. Couldn't help it - such an arrogant twit (her, not me..hehehe..)

Heck, Rhonda, I'd welcome you anywhere!

Have a good night!

We're good about welcoming new folks, and I try my best over at the board I lead that no question goes unanswered (even if it's to say "I don't know, but here are some boards that might").

Still, there's always a chance you don't get as many posts as you hoped or sometimes get none, especially when posting off-topic to share something else about your lives. It happened to me here just yesterday (55+ views but only two responses), and on a board where I've been a member for over 4 years. It's puzzling when some off-topic but sharing posts get a ton of responses while others don't.
