to be feminine anymore. Not that I ever was terribly girlie but seriously!

I've developed an allergy to every eye make-up product in my basket, and most are hypoallergenic. The last straw was thursday when I wore just a little eyeliner and mascara for a special event. Woke up yesterday with eyes glued shut and when I finally got them open, I've never seen them that red before. Brand new make-up too.

Last night I went shopping for some pretty underwear. I was feeling a little down in the dumps and shopping for something nice usually brings me up even if I don't actually buy anything. Apparently they don't make a pretty bra that doesn't pinch, poke, dig in or bind up on my body. At least not one that I can afford to buy. All I wanted was a nice matching set with a half slip for those rare occasions when I actually need or get to wear girlie clothes and I'd like to look halfway decent doing it. Apparently that's a moot point anyway since I won't be wearing any make-up anymore. Might was well shave my head and have it done.

Just feeling sorry for myself and needing a vent. Thanks for reading.

Allergies are such a bummer!! And I never realized they can come on all of a sudden like you experienced.

Hugs Lori,

the makeup thing would concern me. Have you seen a dermatoligist or an allergy doc? There has to be some brand that would be gentle to your eyes. My younger sister has to be very careful what she uses on her eyes too. I will ask her later when she picks me up and I will let you know. About the underwear thing, I understand that too well. Just for the record I have nothing girlie, matching either. All my "stuff" is basic comfort and color. And am cheap too. Underwear from VS, but when they are on sale, the cotton, hi-cut brief, and my bras are Warners from Kohls, also when on sale. I do understand how you feel and I just wanted to let you know you were not alone out there. (((HUGS)))Deb

Lori, hugs to you! That must be so painful! I'm so sorry about your allergies! I'm pretty sensitive to some makeup & my eyes scale with certain kinds. Yes, a dermatologist should be able to help out here, I would think. Man, what I would give if I didn't have to wear the stuff! I hope you can find some kind of makeup you are not allergic to . . .

Uncomfortable underwear - almost as bad as uncomfortable shoes. YIKES! I've had my share of both & end up throwing them out. I love those panties that come up above the belly button!!! LOL! However, I have found some pretties I can stand. I finally found a bra with straps that will stay up. I can't afford the good stuff unless it's majorly on sale, so I shop at Target for my underwear, usually. Oh well . . . Hanes Her Way is comfy!

Hope you feel better,

Kat

P.S. You look "girlie" to me in your pictures with Phyllis!

Hi Lori,

I just read your post about the allergic reaction you got from your make-up.

I've got a couple of pairs of those 'invisibles', too, and really do like them.

Thanks everyone for your response and support. I very rarely wear make-up anyway, so I'm not sure why I got so upset about it. The older I get, the less 'female' I feel so I suppose losing my make-up is just another part of that. I checked into some super-hypoallergenic make-up this weekend and I don't think that's going to happen. Not at those prices anyway.

Yes, Phyllis, my dogs are 140 and 180 pounds so it is like 4 of us in the bed. It's cozy on a cold night and unbearable on a hot summer night. I probably do have some allergy problems with them in the bed, but I don't see that changing.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm not looking for the super-babe look. Just something pretty that won't have me tugging at it all day long. I usually wear sport bras too. Sometimes I like to wear something that doesn't make me look like I have one big boob...LoL...know what I mean?

Patty, if I could find panties with chickens on them, I'd have panties with chickens on them. I have some with little cats all over. The only problem with those is that I have to wear these white pants at work and the underwear shows through something fierce. In fact, we've toyed with the idea of having a 'crazy underwear' day at work. I found some called 'barely-there' and they're comfy, silky and kinda pretty in a simple sort of way.

Sometimes a girl just needs to feel pretty even if it's all in her head.

Thanks again.

Lori
