My friend has asked me to come to a baby shower for her daughter this weekend. It just occured to me I may not have time to get a gift.Hate to run out and buy something just to buy something.Do any of you know how to do the Visa gift certificates? Also can you get one on this short notice.Any thoughts on a good gift idea?I'm limited in my choices here in town. Thanks for any ideas.

If you don't have a "Simon" mall that does the gift certificates that can be used like a Visa, I've found with my niece and some other young women, that Babies R'Us, Burlington Coat Factory (with their extensive baby area), or Target gift certificates are also good for them. Is she registered anywhere? That would let you know exactly what she'd like to get.

Thanks, Rhonda. I just called and checked and the mall just 45 mins away is a Simon Mall.Think I'll try to head over there Friday.I also like the Target gift certificate idea.

Patty,

When Brock was born 18 months ago Babies R Us, Target, and Burlingtons Baby Depot were the most popular places to shop.

Sheesh, I'm with Phyllis! I thought it was something major like an uprising in CL.

Baby gift indeed...

Ok, how about this to make it more interesting.I'm not "officially" invited to the shower. My friend has been going thru alot lately some of which is estrangement from her family. She wants me there for morale support.I'm not on her family's list of favorites because we've gotten closer as they've drifted apart.I don't want to go and risk what could be a nasty reception but I do want to be there for my friend.Just makes me want to hide out in CL!!!!

Patty another suggestion is an American Express Gift Check. They are good everywhere, Target, the mall, Walmart, and even the grocery stores. I believe most banks issue them and they only cost you an extra $1.00 or two. I get them for the teachers, and we even gave them to my inlaws for their birthday gifts last month. They plan to use them for the airline tickets when they travel to CA in the winter. Just another idea.
