Not such a great day for me. I got a call from Mom last night. Her mom isn't doing well and they've put her in the Hospice program. My poor Mom. She's just worn herself out. Her sister has had the flu really bad and hasn't been able to get out of bed much less help out with Grandma. So Mom has been carrying this whole thing on her own. It's been pretty sudden that she got so bad. She's had problems similar in the past but always got through them ok. Yesterday she was unresponsive. Her kidneys have shut down. She has fluid in her lungs with shortness of breath. Circulation to her extremities is poor to non-existant. Classic congestive heart failure. I can hardly stand this. I'm too far away to be any good to anyone. I miss my Mom and Grandma and Aunt so much that it tears me up. It's like a knife in the heart that I can't be there. Why do these things happen at the holidays?

Anyway, the doctor does not expect her to live much longer and feels it may be soon that she dies. Mom said Grandma was so afraid a few days ago that she would die. She was crying and afraid. This time she may be right.

My Grandma is deeply devoted to her Baptist beliefs. She has a strong religious conviction. I know she would appreciate knowing that people are thinking of her and offering prayers in her name. Please, my friends, pray for her. Pray for her swift and painless passing. I can't bear the thought of her suffering and her pain anymore. This woman is the only real grandparent I ever had. There are/were others, but none like her.

Thank you.

I said a prayer for your grandma, your mom and you.

Lori, may God pour out His love and tender mercies on all of you. May you find comfort in memories and also the knowledge that He does indeed take care of His own.
