What's everyone's plans for Turkey Day? Visiting anywhere? Just family in your home? Gonna hit the stores on Friday or Saturday?

We're heading up to MIL's today, in the mountains near Asheville - I'll send NC mountain leaves to anyone who requests them ;^). It'll just be the 4 of us on Thanksgiving, Al will want to watch some parades, Panthers play football... and I might brave the crowds on Friday to do a little shopping. I've got maybe 1/4 of it done already - got BIL and family taken care of, plus little gifts for ornament/gift exchanges, and some of Al's. Gee, I still have to update my wish list. Hope to restart running - there's always time for me to do that at MIL's, and I love that 1/2-mile dirt path around the pond at the Presbyterian retreat.

Y'all have some pumpkin pie for me!

It will probably just be the 5 of us here at home which will be a first for us, although DH has again asked his sister if they want us to bring dinner to them. Just wish someone would make a definite yes or no instead of maybe. I don't think I'm braving the stores this year. It had been a tradition with my younger daughter-but I think she'll be working this year and after last year I don't think I want to deal with the crowds anymore!

Your time in the mountains sounds so wonderful and peaceful. Best wishes for you and your family for a wonderful day!

Well, it looks like it will just be me and DH for Thanksgiving this year. Not a big deal but I sure wish I were in Colorado. Dad has plans with his Mom and family...and well, I just don't need their drama right now. I'd rather it was just me and DH.

So, I don't know if I'll get any cooking done or not. I might just say the heck with it and take DH out for dinner. Not feeling all that festive anyway. I hope that changes soon. I leaving work at noon today so I'll see what happens.

We're staying home and DH's parents and brother are joining us. Shopping over the weekend? Not if I can help it. I think this year it's going to be gift certificates all around, except for DH and for my sister's kids. I'm going to try to finish up on-line ordering for the kids Friday morning, make a list of other family members and determine denominations/types of certificates, and make a note to myself to get FIL his annual 2-lb fix of imported English Stilton cheese on December 22.

The cooking marathon begins this afternoon. I'll be prepping all the veggies (except the green beans almondine) and storing them in the super-sized cooler on the screened porch; it's cold and they'll be ok overnight. Tomorrow, the beans, the stuffing, the bird, and the antipasto. I wasn't going to make the antipasto; what was I thinking? I can smell the imported provolone and prosciutto already!
