I called the home yesterday and (still gets me mad to think about it) the 'regular' nurse didn't know a thing about Grandma not getting her meds like she's supposed to. Over the long holiday weekend, she wasn't there and "who knows who was working then?" Great. Nobody ever said anything to her about it until I called. Crapola, what does it take to get competent people to do the job? I held my tongue and kept my cool while I told her about it and she said she would check into it. We'll see. I guess I'll have to call every stinkin' day to remind them to do their jobs.
Man this p$$$es me off.
Thanks for listening and offering your support. It's so good to know that I have a place to go and let off steam and receive understanding. Thanks to you all. You're all just peachy.

Lori,
You are doing the right thing.

Man is right! Looks like a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand it doing. Keep at it and keep them on their toes. With all the new guidelines on patient's rights, you have the power to get things done. I am sure G'ma and Mom know you are there doing your best with the phone calls. Hope you can get a hold of G'ma's doctor. He should be able to straighten every thing out speedily.
Good luck and vent anytime. We do listen.

How frustrating! Next call you might want to talk to someone who does "know who was working," and who's got more authority and is more concerned with how the hospice is rated service-wise and such, if they're not so concerned about the well-being of the patients. I think it would be wise to put something in writing to them about it too and make a copy to save for yourself. You never know if you might need it later. Best to document problems.
Good luck and hugs to you.
