Just not the shopper I used to be...

I must be getting old (did I say that?) I just don't have the stamina for crowds, lines, traffic or for that matter people in general. I always seem to be in front of or in back of that one person who's got to complain. I was going to suggest to this individual that maybe she should man a cash register and see if she could make the line move any faster! Of course she was the one to get to the register and tell the cashier to start ringing but she needed to look for one more thing! I was only out for 3 hours and the first 1 1/2 was fine going to Best Buy and Target but then decided I needed to make a trip to the mall-and to think it was a Thursday morning! I just hope anymore shopping doesn't involve another trip there. Ended up at Panera to pick up lunch for DD and myself. I had a great grilled chicken caeser salad and the way I ate it you'd think I hadn't seen food for a VERY LONG TIME! I'm now home for the afternoon, fully fed and maybe thinking of working on some Christmas cards!

It must have been a long time between shopping trips, Susan. You just noticed this???? I have been to one of the nearby malls and a couple of Target/Kohls, but just to browse and look at the decorations. I haven't got to the meat of the matter - the shopping, the standing, and the waiting.

Thank goodness for on-line shopping and catalogue 800 numbers!

I know I am not the shopper I used to be. I am spoiled now with shopping on line and not having to deal with some people. It is worth paying the shipping. If I order on line from HSN, I don't pay sales tax, so it almost evens out. I only shopped for grandchildren this year. I am going to use my surgery for all it is worth.

Good luck with the Christmas cards. Going to do them when I am recovering.

Hey, with lunch from Panera, the day wasn't a total waste! I crave their Fandango salads.

I find it helps me to be in the right frame of mind before I go Christmas shopping. If I'm not feeling well or feel rushed, it's better (if possible) to do it another time. I usually put on Christmas music while I'm getting dressed and that seems to help me.

I think part of wisdom is doing what makes you happy and realizing everyone is different. I hope to "play the Christmas game" as long as I'm able. Rob and I love to get out together and mingle with the crowds. I hope I never want to avoid all that and just stay home. Love running into people I know and haven't seen for ages or meeting new people, sharing a smile, and wishing each other a Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday. Wish the spirit could last all year.

The time will come all too soon when we won't have a choice, and for now, I'm taking advantage of being able to be out and about for all it's worth. I wonder how many people would give their eyeteeth to be in that position.

I have to agree with you Rhonda! I had the best time on Friday after Thanksgiving when I stood in line at Best Buy for close to 2 hours. The line moved around the whole store, but there were so many wonderful people there & we all talked about our children, colleges, football, church, shopping, holiday foods, gifts, etc. It was so fun! I think the reason I had such a good time was that I didn't have to have the things I bought - I just decided to see what this shopping phenomena was and decided to buy some gifts in the process. I also had a great time shopping for a Christmas plate and teapot in the mall the other night. Everyone seems to be enjoying Christmas shopping this year in Longview. Now, it may be a different story the week of Christmas, so I plan to have my shopping finished before then! LOL!

Hi Kat! Glad you're embracing the season and having fun too! Sure miss you and your posts around here. I've thought of trying to email you several times, then realized I couldn't do that. Hope you're able to pop in more often.

Hugs,

Rhonda
