is the most updated one - I'm getting ready to send out Christmas cards and want to send you all one. Hope everyone's holiday season is happy and wonderful. I had a lovely time last night at Dillard's (who'd have thunk?) in my formal wear - we had a private party for elite cardholders. Managed to sell over $1000. in 3 hrs. time, although I was supposed to sell $1800.! Anyway, we had a great time and the food was delicious.

Having fun the next 3 nights with Danny making Christmas cookies and decorating (got the tree up but I HATE putting lights on - hope Danny gets better at it soon! Yesterday I made some sand tarts and fudge, so tonight I will make some raspberry shortbread and chocolate chip cookies. Of course, I only "taste" them and between Danny and my office - they get devoured!

I enjoy reading your posts whenever I get a small break at work. Anyone seen a good movie or read a good book lately? I can't wait to see that Diane Keaton/Jack Nicholson movie and of course, Return of the King will be out next week.

Happy Holidays,

Kat

Hi, Kat - I'll bet you looked gorgeous all decked out at your Dillard's party/sales event. We don't have Dillard's up this way, so I'm triply deprived (no Dillard's, no KK, and no Cracker Barrel; how have I survived to well-adjusted adulthood?).

Just finishing up a fun read - "Queen Bee of Mimosa Branch," by Haywood Smith. Nothing life-altering or deep-thinking about it. But fun and light, and laugh-out-loud funny in spots.

Have fun decorating!

Hi, Donna! Your book sounds interesting! Think I will run by Books A Million this week for some nourishment.

I can't believe my Dolphins had to get shut out by your Patriots! I was getting updates before I went in to work last night & was hoping they wouldn't lose TOO badly. They really need more playtime in the snow!!! LOL!

Hope you are enjoying the season. I may get some Christmas shopping done during the next 3 days, also! Will have to hide the loot in the trunk from prying little eyes. Danny made me a pretty stained glass Christmas tree ornament yesterday at his dad's. That calls for decorating the tree tonight.

BTW, congratulations on your added weight loss - amazing you are able to lose during the holidays!

Arrrgh! I wrote you a long reply and lost it as I was sending it! Had to step away from the computer and calm down a while before I could attempt it again... I did manage to get a few lights on the tree in between (from the frying pan into the fire)!

Bet you looked wonderful all dolled up and turned more than a few heads! If you work in Dillard's "Bridge" dept. I could have made your night for you (at least with wishes). LOL! The one in the mall near us with such a good selection has gotten to be my favorite store for dressier sportswear, suits, and shoes. Suddenly, I have occasion to wear the nicer stuff every once in a while again. One thousand dollars in 3 hours is excellent, especially if your store has as many great markdowns as ours does.

Your goodies sound wonderful! Luckily you have a teenage boy (i.e. eating machine) to help get rid of them. Rob eats a 4th meal in the afternoon to tide him over until dinner -- something like a foot-long sub value meal from Subway or something from a fast food place, although I try to discourage that because of all the fat. I'm getting him away from soft drinks too. Suddenly, he's the same height as I am (5'6"), which he's had as a goal for a long time. At the rate he's going, he should leave me behind soon.

Hey, Rhonda! An easy day at work for me, today, obviously!

I will slip that Friendship Cake recipe in your Christmas card & get it in the mail today! It really is more like a nut cake than a fruitcake and uses a cake mix - so how easy is that? Only thing is, the fruit sits out in a container ("starter" stuff) and gets stirred around for some days before the cake gets made . . . didn't want to gross anyone out, but that's how it goes! It really does taste pretty good, nothing fancy, though. I was looking around for orange relish for that cake recipe of yours, but could never find it - do you make your own orange relish?

Rob is the same height as Danny! I think Danny may be nearing 5'7" inches, though, as he is almost as tall as his dad (6'). The child's voice is changing again! It's cracking more & sounds deeper! So funny. He eats like a horse, too! He shaves at his dad's, so I wonder if Santa should bring him shaving supplies for my home? Does Rob shave?

Who's in the "Stuck on You" movie? I also might take in the chick flick with Julia Roberts. Jack Nicholson would creep me out, too, but he's a great actor. Rented "Anger Management" and hope it's good. I love Keanu Reeves, too. That poor guy has been thru some tragedies in his life. Love almost all of Diane Keaton's movies.

You sound so busy with everything! Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!

Hugs,

Kat

Thanks for sending along that cake recipe. I'm always eager to try new ones. I love nuts, so I have a feeling I will like that one a lot.

Rob is not shaving yet. He is very fair skinned and kind of light haired, so it may be a while, I hope. I hate to see my baby growing up so fast. I will be surprised if Rob is even 5'10" even though my dad is 6'2". He just doesn't look as though he's going to be very tall, although he

Hey Kat!The event at Dilliards sound like fun and I know you looked beautiful! My favorite ornaments are the one s my DS made when he was small.Sounds like you and Danny are enjoying the holidays.

I used to make the cake you have mentioned and we loved it.But I can't remember what to do about the starter. It was always passed around. Can you make the starter yourself?

Hope you're having a great day!

Hi, Patty. Yes, you can make your own starter, or even NOT make a starter like I do sometimes (still is a good cake without a starter). You can start early (like in Nov.) to make a starter with the fruit/fruit juice & then go from there. After you drain the fruit from the juice, you have new starter. I'll put the recipe in your card, too. I may go ahead & make it for New Years!

You guys are too kind about my party attire. It is a pretty dress, but 5 more lbs. and it would be too tight. I did get lots of "I'm impressed that you can still wear a dress you bought 6 years ago" last night. Well, heck, it's not as if I had a baby or anything since then!

Yes, I have every ornament Danny ever made - the ones with the photos of him are so cute! Hope your baby, Ryan, is doing well. Have a happy holiday season!

Hugs,

Kat

I have so many Christmas decorations spread out on the kitchen counters and even half the stove that we had to eat out! Imagine that!!!

I did get another nutcracker today. He's George Washington with his cherry tree! Bombay Co. has theirs on sale for $15.00!! Got two gold leaf wall shelves to put in the great room too. Tim came home and was so "shocked" that I had been shopping for the house after we rearranged things Sunday.

Sounds as though you are making great progress on your Christmas preparations. Keep up the good work.
