Are you in the holiday spirit yet? Try this:

Do something for someone else - volunteer, donate money, contribute
or serve in some way. It's not too late to "adopt a family or child"
through volunteer organizations in your area.

I don't volunteer my time as I should because I never know what my job is going to leave me time for (and I don't want to have to back out of commitments), but I've got the checks ready for the Home for Little Wanderers and the Salvation Army that I've been sending for the last few years as living honors to my mother and mother-in-law. My family's connection with the Home for Little Wanderers goes back years - my late aunt (my mother's sister) used to volunteer and contribute there, so it's a tribute to "Auntie Jo" as well.

(Funny, it just dawned on me that my aunt was a LOT like Jo in "Little Women" - kind of a tomboy, very pragmatic, and very independent. She didn't marry until she was just about 40 and had her two children very quickly afterward - she became terminally ill when they were 5 and 6, and passed away just as they became pre-teens).
