Crazy day ahead -- Got Rob to school already and have to decide on "festive attire" for the luncheon meeting today. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. I'll have to start getting ready for lunch now, since I have to leave here about 8:10 to get Rob at 8:30 and have him to the orthodontist by 9. He's having new retainers made. Yes, we get to pay for a 2nd set (not just 1 retainer, but 2) -- not happy about that. By the time he's finished and I get him back to school, it'll probably be time to head downtown, since we're having a Christmas Boutique to benefit the Guardian ad Litem kids and that starts at 11. Meeting should be finished by 1:30 or 2 after chatting, etc., then if my friend is up to it we will convert toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls into "glamorous" party favors for the Red Hat Society. Ah, the glamour never ends...

I'm thankful for:

1. The little things I can do that I sometimes take for granted.

2. The holiday season and the reason for it (Happy to see 87% of people polled felt we should be able to display the nativity in public).

3. Lots of opportunities out there to help others regardless of what our talents are.

Hope everyone is keeping warm and has a wonderful day.

No workout for me today. Chilled, no energy, coughing and hacking. Bleck! Having said that, I still have thankfuls:

1. Thankful for the 7th grade counselor at my daughter's school and the rest of the County staff that is concerned about her up and down grades. The ball is rolling to get her back on track.

2. Thankful for the technology that notices any tiny changes in mammograms and specialists who are trained to read them. Today is the day I go to get my follow-up mammo and possibly a sonogram.

3. Thankful for my husband and all he does for me and for our family.

Hope to be back on track in a couple days and over this cold. (Also thankful for heating pads and warm fuzzy sox!).

Sassy

I'm right behind you there Phyllis. The holiday luncheon/meeting/pat-ourselves-on-the-back-athon was a food fest and a half. It was pretty wonderful and I tried very hard to be good. But in the end, way too many calories were consumed. Back in the saddle again today.

What am I thankful for this week?

1. My mother. She's so very far away, but she seems so near to me today. She's a blessing that I'm thankful for every day.

2. My husband. As angry and frustrated as I get with him sometimes, he's my rock when I need to lean on or hide under something.

3. My job. I really love the work I do and I feel like it's important and it makes a difference to the world even if it only helps relieve someone's heartburn or cold symptoms. I make a difference.

4. My home. It doesn't seem like much and it really isn't all that much, but it's home and it's warm and dry.

5. My friends. Just when I feel like I'm all alone in the world, a light comes streaming in from a friend and I know that I'm not alone. Thanks.

Sassy, you sound horrible. I hope you get some time for yourself today, drink some tea and get some R&R.

I hope all goes well at the doctors, you'll be in my thoughts & prayers.

Hi PT40,

I too hope your doc has a magical solution to your migranes. As for becoming more aware of your body (being mindful) next time you run, just think about one body part, like your feet, how do they feel, could you make any adjustments to make them feel better, what about your calves, are they tight? can you relax them just a bit while your running? After they run, while your cooling down, just notice, how does the body feel, warm, cold, tingling, the energy is zooming through you, its a good thing. Just noticing will bring you into yourself. Also, you said that you let your mind wander, try not doing that. Focus on your breating ONLY (well, watch where your going too), but is your breath steady, slow and easy, fast and out of control?

I hope this helps, let me know.

OK, I've been walking a lot more than I was in the past. Today its pouring, slush all over the ground, where there isn't slush there is mud. But I'm going anyway, at least for 20 minutes.

Thankfuls:

1. that great yoga class on tuesday night

2. the twinkle in my DD's eyes every moring as she opens the little package for our advent calendar.

3. the Spirit that everyone has in their hearts this time of year

4. yes, i'm thankful for the flu shot and that DH and I were able to get one

I'm thankful for my loving, giving, talented, appreciative and supportive husband. I'm thankful for our precious, thoughtful, compassionate and smart daughter (she's beautiful as well!). I'm thankful for a church like the one I go to, where the message delivered comes from the Bible and is applied to everyday. I'm thankful that the Spirit has shown me how parts of the Bible work together - it's only been since I turned to the Lord that I've begun finding the connections (way cool). I'm thankful for the freedom in this country to be able to speak and worship freely (though vigilance is needed to retain those rights). I'm thankful for the opportunities this country offers to people to better their lives.

Can you tell I'm in a reverent mood today?! I'm also thankful that the little voice inside of me put on the brakes to my out-of-control eating for the time being. I fully intend to enjoy Christmas in two weeks, but by pulling back now, I won't be worrying about fitting into my clothes!

Workout: I worked up a sweat vacuuming yesterday, and mopped the kitchen floor - twice, since I ran out of cleaner/shiner and had to do both steps separately. Today, clean the bathrroms... and by golly, I'm going to be able to get a workout in. Probably my cardio to ease back into exercising, plus a little abs work.

Thankful for:

1) A happy, warm, kind hubby

2) Healthy family

3) Good friends

4) A comfortable home

5) Work

Full workout on my schedule for tonight, no matter what time (and it could be late, based on my workload); mall walk last night was way too leisurely, although it was certainly weight-bearing with my coat and boots on.

Have a great day, everyone!

Donna
